WASHINGTON Sen. Barbara Boxer left little doubt she was having a particularly good time Wednesday. Wearing sunglasses, California's junior Democratic senator made her way to a stage on the east lawn of the Capitol, then stood in front of a huge U.S. flag and waved to a throng of supporters as U2's "It's a Beautiful Day" roared through the loudspeakers.
"What a great day!" enthused the senator. "This is like giving birth again!"
Boxer was celebrating her alliance with Massachusetts Democratic Sen. John Kerry to introduce a long-awaited bill that, if approved, could land her in the history books.
The legislation the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act would force the United States to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2020, setting more ambitious targets than a bill that passed the House over summer. By 2050, greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced by 80 percent from 2005 levels.
Sponsoring a bill is the easy part. The hard part is next, as Boxer tries to fend off many Republicans and some Democrats who oppose the legislation, saying it would be too costly, particularly in tough times.
Opponents are ready for battle, saying Boxer and Kerry are out to impose a new national tax on energy.
"The national energy tax was a terrible idea when it passed the House, and it is an even worse idea now," said House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio.

Joking, right? What's good for thee is NOT for me. Congress is sooo above the rest of us that they KNOW you want the best for them. Otherwise they wouldn't be fighting against having to use the Health Care they are eager to foist on the American public. Phonies!

I can’t wait for her to run for re-election next year when Californians are choosing between heating or eating thanks to her idiocy.

Yeah, I know, the participation of scum like Boxer and Kerry says plenty, but in additon, anything that involves that jerk Bono has major problems with it.
He’s like the white Jesse Jackson-never met a camera he didn’t insist be focused on him.

Republicans need to find an honest, hard-working truth-teller to run against her. Can we draft Tom Selleck? Just asking. He seems to be a man of integrity.
To: SmithL
Boxer is a lunatic and that a given. What’s downright shameful is that Cornyn and the GOP refuse to back Larry Elder in an effort to unseat her.

Every idiot liberal is looking to “make history” destroying the country.
To: Hegemony Cricket
You’ve certainly hit upon the heart of the issue.
The “nobles” want to force cuts in the energy usage of the “serfs” in order to control them better, as well as making sure there is enough difference between their two lifestyles to highlight how superior the “nobles” are to the “serfs”.

This "clean energy" facade is just another diversion to keep American's eyes off the ball.
Already, liberal taxes, rules, and regulations have run most of our big manufacturing out of the country, so why do we even worry about "clean energy". China has absorbed much of our industrialization, and you need a knife to cut through the pollution in their air.
I've been to quite a few cities, and except for the accrid smell of the occasional paper mill, I find most of the cities to have clean, fresh air all around.
The left has discovered that almost anything they want to control can be related to pollution or global warming, and the current "fad" in the world is centered on the environment and to hell with the people...except the "special people" who are making the rules.
Now here is the obamallama bunch wanting to ban every type of energy which actually works, and replace it with junk science and systems that will sap the life and energy out of our inventors, industrialists, and everyday citizens.
They're even talking about removing hydroelectric dams for teh sake of a fish...a fish that no one even knew existed and don't really care one way or the other. So we are doomed to sit in the dark to make sure that little fish survives long enough to be eaten by a bigger, more plentiful, fish.
The liberals are turning America into bizarro world and the clinton-era image of the tail wagging the dog is still in full power.
Scotty, either beam down the common sense ray, or beam me up.

This is the height of arrogance IMO. The whole global warming hoax is now known to have been based on bad data. Yet, these “better at living than you” types still insist the 3rd most abundant element on earth is a pollutant, they want to regulate it and profess to be able to control the temperature of God’s green earth with a piece of crap legislative action in DC..
Buffoons.
