But what is of comical interest here is that their incensed, shrieking reaction to these ahistorical criticisms is a dead giveaway that they understand how vulnerable they are themselves to the same sort of attacks, since that is also the game they play.

Wrong. Doctrine and theology are critical to whether someone is labeled a cult or cultist or not.
There are lots of people who do good deeds, but that's not what makes them a Christian, because that's not what salvation is based on.
It's based on the death of Christ on the cross and His resurrection. One cannot do enough good deeds to earn their way into heaven and doing good deeds isn't what makes one a Christian. It just makes them a person who does good deeds.
It better be. There's only one Jesus Christ who died for us and it's only His death that atones for our sins.

It's THE standard EVERY Christian uses. YOU don't get to just willy-nilly pick and choose what to accept and reject, JESUS set the standard.
