13 isn’t rape-rape. It’s RAPE, period. But if this had happened to Whoopi when SHE was 13, she’d be claiming victim status for the rest of her life.

I've come to the conclusion that "as long as it's a liberal doing it", it's OK with them - all of them.
In recent conversations with a lib over various issues, this was the only point of consistency (even breath to breath) that I could gleen from her point of view.
It very well probably happened to her.
It very well could be that she’s trying to deny that the event screwed her up mentally, and that’s why she’s defending the event when it happens to another.
She is correct in that not all rapes are equal. For example a 18 year old high school senior having consensual sex with his 16 year old girlfriend would be statutory rape in many jurisdictions, but would not be the same as a stranger grabbing a woman off the street and forcibly raping her.
However, from what I have read, the Polanski incident was not only ‘rape-rape’, but ‘rape-rape-rape’.
1) The victim was 13, well below the age of consent.
2)He got her drunk and gave her drugs, impairing her ability to consent, even if she had been of age.
3) She demaneded that he stop, making it forcible.
This was not some borderline or technical rape as
Whoopi’s uninformed comment would suggest.
I can’t believe The View won a daytime Emmy Award a couple of weeks ago. It should be named “The Liberal View”.
