U.S. blasts ousted Honduran for "foolish" return

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States blasted ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya for his "irresponsible and foolish" return from exile before a settlement was reached in the Central American country's political crisis.

At an emergency meeting of the Organization of American States to discuss the Honduran face-off, Lewis Anselem, the U.S. ambassador to the OAS, also criticized Honduras' de facto government for its "deplorable" action in barring entry of an OAS mission and declaring a state of siege on Sunday.

Anselem also criticized Zelaya for fueling violence by slipping back into Honduras last week and holing up in the Brazilian Embassy, from where he has called on his supporters to take to the streets.

"The return of Zelaya absent an agreement is irresponsible and foolish ... He should cease and desist from making wild allegations and from acting as though he were starring in an old movie," Anselm said.

Another flip-flop. He only did it because he was given a sense of support by the administration.

“Foolish” because it didn’t go under the radar in the way 0bama and his minions had hoped it would.

“Who cares about Honduras anyway?” they said to themselves.

He still thinks nobody is watching his actions. He thinks we’re all just listening to his words.

He’s a jackass.

A settlement has already been reached, Bozo, that settlement being the legal president of Honduras is in power right now and the criminal that tried to take over the government and trash the constitution is trapped in the Brazilian embassy.

The only reason Bozo is doing this now is because of the report that the Library of Congress released and how many people in the states are upset about him standing behind a dictator and criminal. Then he only chastises him for going back "too soon".

Honduras has obviously gained the upper hand in this.

While they’re at it, they should make a bid for the Olympics.

There is a typo in the article. It should say:

At an emergency meeting of the Organization of American States to discuss the Honduran face-off, Lewis Anselem, the soon-to-be recalled U.S. ambassador to the OAS...

Anyone want to start a pool on the date?

I've got dibs on Oct 9...

Looks like a prelude to throwing Zelaya under the bus. I hope.

I hope its a prelude to Zelaya going under a headstone. He had a chance to just walk away. He chose to come back and try to start a revolution. That needs to have consequences if Honduras is to survive. Just like Saddam Hussein they need to be rid of Zelaya in a permanent manner otherwise he will be a constant threat and guerrilla leader.

What? A settlement was reached way back in June - Zelaya is O-U-T out.

Could the State Department be getting a clue?

They must know they jumped the gun by calling the constitutional removal of Zelaya a “coup.” Now they are starting to backtrack.

they are trying to dissassociate themselves from Hugo Chavez’ rather clumsy fingerprints, which are all over this operation. As for Zelaya holed up in that basement....ya know, natural gas regulators HAVE been known so suffer catastrophic failure....

Well, well, well...this one must have been getting too hot to handle for Bammy (who is out of the country right now anyway, so maybe somebody at the OAS simply got a clue and dared to go ahead without him).

So it’s “deplorable” that Honduras shut out the OAS representative but it’s oki-doki that we revoked the visas of Honduran diplomats....
