This all started with "No Child Left Behind" (which is being expanded under President Zero). We need to stop the federal drive to take over education in its tracks while there is still time.

Public shool issues are totally beyond federal jurisdiction. Just an attempt at more government take-over of large parts of American life. Those N.J. kids singing praises to Obama make one shudder to think of this man and his henchmen intruding in what should be local affairs. This must be strongly opposed.

I skimmed the article but it sounds like misery for the kids — longer days, in school all summer.
Here we have a perfect team all summer here on the farm — Grandpa, DS1, DS2 and I help DH while DD cooks and does housework.
When school starts we are scraping for help. If we were really in a crunch we could talk to the principal and at least get DS1 excused from school.
Are they saying it’s not like that in the hood?
I also think the kids can get into messes — cliques, bullying and such. Summer vacation gives the kids a chance to heal. If they are crowded into schools year around, it will not be good for their mental or physical health.
