The 2012 Presidential Race: On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!
Pajamas Media ^ | Sept. 26 | Jennifer Rubin

It is far from clear who will actually jump into the 2012 race, but we are getting a sense of the opening lines of the campaign. There are four of them already in circulation.

First: “It turns out experience matters.” Obama ran with inexperience as a badge of honor and “change” as his message. The result is a mound of debt, a confused and erratic foreign policy, and a campaign-obsessed and governance-challenged president. Maybe it is time, the contenders will argue, for someone who has done something, built something, or run something before getting to the White House. Competency matters and executive leadership skills which go beyond speechifying make all the difference between failure and success.

Second: “The American people were had.” Conservatives early on sniffed out Obama as an ultra-liberal with a big government agenda, but it took an entire campaign and the better part of a year in office for most Americans to figure it out....

Let it be said loud and clear that any so-called Republican who shills for Mitt Romney is persona non grata for me.

Nah, not yet. Sarah’s biding her time. When she says “go”, that’s when we’re off and running.

To early...Don't know yet.

Step one is to tighten state primaries so that only Republicans vote in Republican Primaries (Dems too). Cross-over voting is ruining the party.

Step 2 is to realize that in very liberal states, a RINO is better than a flaming Lib. I live in Maine, and, believe me, any Dem Senator would be to the left of Nancy Pelosi. A true conservative loses by 30 points here, so buck up and swallow hard.

RINO....LIB......DIFFERENCE????

One plunges you into the volcano. The other does it more slowly. The result: a dead sacrifice.

Palin is taking advice from the wrong people:

John McCain's foreign policy aide during his presidential campaign, Randy Scheunemann, is now advising McCain's running mate Sarah Palin and accompanied her on her recent trip to China.

Scheunemann, a former national security adviser for Sen. Trent Lott, has been a vocal critic of the Barack Obama administration, and recently called Obama's decision not to erect a missile shield in Eastern Europe a "concession" to Russia.

An early supporter of the Iraq war, he is prominent in the Republican Party's "hawkish, internationalist, neoconservative wing," Smith writes, "and his place beside Palin also offers a bit of a clue as to the direction in which her vaguely defined foreign policy views are likely to develop."

So, just how SNARKY was the PJTV commentary on Palin this time?

When I saw the Palin commentary a few weeks ago (PJTV), the commentators were essentially throwing Palin under the bus.

Agreed. That’s how we got John McCain. Independents should have to vote in their own primaries, if there are any, and not ours. Only REGISTERED GOP voters should be allowed to vote in the Republican primaries. And not to belittle anyone who lives in Iowa or N.H. but I’m getting tired of having them go first and pick our candidates. Why can’t we move some more conservative states like Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Wyoming or Kentucky up to the top of the primary calendar? I guarantee a RINO like McCain would not win.

The RNC needs to fix that before I return to the GOP. I don't join a political party to be "bipartisan" or vote for some other convoluted "big tent" suck up for the liberals.

Bush had his faults I was not happy with one bit, but I will say when he refused to speak to the Log Cabin perverts, it motivated me to support him.

I think the only reason McCain got any Republican votes in the general election was because he picked Palin. I agree with Beck, McCain is worse.

So true. And, let’s not forget Ed Meese and James Watt — and their associated scandals — that make some of Slick Willy’s capers look like Amateur Hour.

Further, Ollie North had to awaken Ronnie from his nap to remind the President that he was going to testify on Capitol Hill in the Iran-Contra mess.

Reagan responded… “OK. Ahhh, what was that one about, again...?”

And, that was on a good day.

Fortunately, Reagan had two very competent Bechtal men to do the heavy lifting. Cap and George explained to Reagan how to break the Russkies;

Outspend them !!

It worked flawlessly — and we got our Navy back on fairly solid footing at the same time — from Carter’s 300 ship level back up to approximately 550 at the end of his second term. (Weinburger had been Steve Bechtel’s comptroller; George Schulz was the former company tresurer for the largest privately owned company in the world. One superb team !!!

These gents knew how to play hardball...and, essentially, were the only truly competent mambers of Reagan’s team. McFarland and North were WAY out of their league the moment they got off the bus in downtown Washington. *S*
