PPP poll: Palin’s favorability at 37/55 (Obama leads Palin by wide margin in head-to-head)
Hotair ^ | 9/26/2009 | Allahpundit

Posted on 09/27/2009 5:27:49 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Head-to-head with Obama, she’s steady from last month: He led her 52/38 in August and leads 53/38 now. But her favorables are in the toilet, dropping from 47/45 in July to 40/49 in August to … 37/55. The positive spin for Palin fans, I guess, is that the less the public sees of her, the worse she seems to do, which turns the conventional media wisdom on its head. Now that she’s reemerged to hit the lecture circuit, it’ll be interesting to see if she spikes up in October.

Another ominous trend: Her favorability among Republicans was higher last month than Huckabee’s even though he fared better against Obama overall (this month he trails by seven points after trailing in August by just three), but now he’s nudged past her even within the party.

He beats her among Republicans even in a hypothetical contest against Obama, winning 77 percent and losing just 13 while Palin tops out at 70 percent and loses 18. Even when you break it out by ideology, expecting the ‘Cuda to win big among conservatives, it’s a statistical wash:

Exit question: Where’s all the GOP Huck love coming from? Does he have that many fans of his Fox show? Or is he just drawing good vibes as the funny, genial southern guy, in contrast to the more polarizing personas of Palin and Romney?

In my urban area Huck has a daily two minute top-of-the-hour spot to opine on current events. This gig follows the Rush Show, though the two are not connected. Talk about piggy-backing!

Then, too, Huckleberry has his own TV program and every week his brand of southern charm, easy manner, folksy-country music, smooth-talk and dimples become part of the living room family circle in millions of homes.

No doubt this accounts for any upward blips in his favorables.

It's also part of the groundwork for his next presidential run.

Even if this poll is accurate it only means that Palin has to swing 7% of the voters in the mushy middle over the next three years—not too great a challenge.

First suspicion this poster had reading the poll:

What in the world is a “PPP”? Sure wasn’t explained in the post.

Went to the blog linked in the post. Still no explanation. Had to follow about 5 links through this story to figure out the “poll” is a Democrat operation:

http://projects.newsobserver.com/under_the_dome/meet_the_pollster_tom_jensen

Quoting:

“At 24, Tom Jensen is probably the youngest pollster in North Carolina.

The lead analyst for Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm in Raleigh, graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a dual degree in history and political science in 2006.”

Then this gem:

“He’s assisted in the analysis by Jim Shields, a retired political science professor and former head of the state chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, but otherwise works alone.”

Is this really the sort of “poll” FReepers should be getting riled about?...

Just saying. Perhaps the issue isn’t so much the poll numbers.

The issue perhaps should be whether “PPP” is affiliated with ACORN and SEIU?...

> Reagan stayed on as governor come hell or highwater.
> Sarah Palin QUIT without completing her term.

So, how many specious, fraudulent ethics violations lawsuits were lodged against Reagan when he was governor of California?

Palin faced more than one a month, sometimes two in one week, since she was nominated for VP.

She had to pay with her own money. The State of Alaska would not defend her.

The perpetrators of the fraudulent lawsuits got off scott-free, maybe a $50 filing fee paid for by Soros & co.

When the lawsuits were dismissed, the perps went right ahead and filed new ones.

Polling numbers this far out mean less than nothing. They are meant to dampen people on Palin. The media wouldn’t be pursuing polls like this if they weren’t scared to death of Palin. Remember that.

Hot Air is a BS poll along with media matters and other democRat controlled media.

Oh for pete's sake. Pull you head out of the sand. Hot Air is run by Michelle Freakin Malkin.

And that means it's some kind of left wing media lying poll?

If you disagree with a poll, it must be wrong, I guess.

This is how we work our way to irrelevance.

The despicable smear merchants will be no more successful against Mrs Palin than they were against Reagan.
As Fall and Winter pass and Spring arrives the trees will be sweetly blooming as will America's admiration for the grand lady of Alaska!
Mrs Palin will be our next, and first female, President. This is a fait accompli.

I know being right is better than being popular---Sarah Palin

He beats her among Republicans

That would be among gay, black, ex-con Republicans.

You just have to look at the posters on this forum to know that Sarah will lead the conservatives (either as the Republican nominee or at the head of her own party). The conservatives are the MAJORITY in this country, even the lib polls admit that. They WILL come out to vote for Sarah, unlike RINOS like McCain.

Sometimes one has to read between the lines to discern true political trends.

For example, why is there even a poll about Palin’s popularity?

Whey do Dem political hacks attack her in the press almost daily?

Why were Obama’s winged monkeys busy in Alaska trying to ruin her with false ethics charges long after the national election was over?

What other Republican politician could command a six-figure sum to give a speech in Asia?

What other politician can garner front page headlines with a blog posted from their home?

What Republican does Obama have to respond to in his speeches on ZeroCare?

What politician would draw the biggest crowd at a rally held next week - Huck, Romney, Pawlenty, Jindal, McCain....or Palin?

I don’t need a MSM source to figure out who the next leader of the Republican ticket will be.

PPP is biased as hell....I would believe them if they told me I had to pee twice a day...

What this push poll tells me is that they are scared as hell...and have to start massaging polls this far out..

So people will say stuff like “depressing”...

wanna see how popular she is...go back and look at the photos of her rallies..

Yeah, and question Michelle Malkin for allowing someone like Allahpundit to be a ‘featured’ blogger. He couldn’t be more obvious with his Palin hatred, and uses that hate to garner more hits and comments on his posts.

PPP is a Democrat polling firm.

And they changed their poll weighting in Aug. after Palin's July numbers shocked them. 56% of their new sample had college/post grad degrees.

I agree completely with your comments. Sarah is doing just fine. The Hong Kong speech set a good pattern, substantive and well received by a sophisticated audience. The future lies ahead and she will be in it.

That’s true. What really puts these polls to route is the effect she has had on Bozo’s agenda with a few well placed face book postings and the fact the left is all over her speech in China. If she was so down in the eyes of Americans the left wouldn’t be jumping at her every word.

This poll is meaningless, mainly because Rasmussen didn't do it. I don't trust polls, except sometimes a Rasmussen poll.

If she is so unelectable for President, how come she has 1100 requests for speeches and interviews, her lawyer gave her a 1.5 inch thick folder full of entertainment offers, and 150 politicians want her to come to their districts and campaign for them? Rick Perry of Texas says she is coming to Texas to campaign for him and her endorsement is “worth it's weight in gold”........

Given a choice today, the majority would choose Obama. That says a lot about where this nation is headed.

But, the Democrats are sinking like a rock in generic Congressional ballots and their candidates in a lot of trouble in gubernatorial races.

Palin is the most "damaged" Republican because of the smear job engaged in by the media and Hollywood. All most of the country knows about her is what both of told them. So, she isn't a good measure right now of what a potential race would look like. And, Obama's approval numbers are among the lowest for recent Presidents at this stage of his Presidency and things are likely to get far worse for him.
