National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Rocco Landesman responded to the August 10 NEA, White House, and United We Serve conference call in a statement sent to the Washington Times. :
STATEMENT FROM NEA CHAIRMAN ROCCO LANDESMAN
September 22, 2009
As chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, I would like to clarify the issues concerning an August conference call in which an NEA employee participated.

Pull their money and power. Restrict the NEA from any involvement with the Democrat party for ten years due to Federal violations... IMO
In other words, THAT CALL WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN RECORDED!
Mistake? As in crime?
I don’t see no stink’n admission. I see just the opposite.
"Courrielche said the now ubiquitous Obama 'Hope' poster by artist Shepard Fairey and musician will.i.am's 'Yes We Can' song and music video were offered as 'shining examples' of the artist group's [NEA's] clear impact on Obama's landslide election."
I wanted to make an art piece of Barack Obama because I thought an iconic portrait of him could symbolize and amplify the importance of his mission. I believe Obama will guide this country to a future where everyone can thrive and I should support him vigorously for the sake of my two young daughters. I have made art opposing the Iraq war for several years, and making art of Obama, who opposed the war from the start, is like making art for peace. I know I have an audience of young art fans and Im delighted if I can encourage them to see the merits of Barack Obama.
-Shepard Fairey

The government really needs to shut down the NEA and get out of the arts business. People create art. Governments create propaganda.
Allow me to translate: “The former NEA Director of Communications was a loose cannon, who had no clue about what it takes to work at that level of the federal bureaucracy, and left us all with a dozen eggs all over our collective face. Former NEA Director of Communications Yosi Sergant has been reassigned to the position of ‘Director of Paper Cutting, Thumbtack Removal and Document Shredding,’ working out of the NEA basement, where he continues to be a valued member of our NEA team. He has also been counseled and advised that he is no longer in Los Angeles.”
Mistake? If I understand things correctly, THEY BROKE LAW and were caught.
To quote the Honorable Representative from the great State of South Carolina. Secretary Hull also stated it quite well in December of 1941 as well.
“I have made art opposing the Iraq war for several years, and making art of Obama, who opposed the war from the start, is like making art for peace.”
It’s almost painful to hear the self-indulgent drivel that passes for thinking among groups like this.
Even more disturbing (to me) is this portion of the same quote:
“I know I have an audience of young art fans and Im delighted if I can encourage them to see the merits of Barack Obama.”
The chairman should go. Unplug the funding. The Commies got exposed.
Yes. Very disturbing. I wonder what he thinks those merits are.
In fact, wasn’t it on the recording how the right language was being worked so as to make the conversations legal?
“mistake”? Liars, one and all.
CYA Often Rocco?
How about no NEA at all?
