Carrie Prejean to Values Voter Summit: 'God Chose Me' With the Gay-Marriage Question
September 18, 2009
Its easy to make fun of beauty queens -- their plastic smiles, their bottle-blond tresses, their dreams for world peace. But Carrie Prejean, the former Miss California whose declaration that marriage should be between a man and woman earned her the vilification of some in the gay rights community, provided an unanticipated emotional highlight at a conference of Christian conservatives in Washington today.
In a heartfelt talk that moved some in the crowd to tears, Prejean recounted for the 1,700 activists gathered for the Family Research Councils Values Voter Summit in Washington how distressing it was to go from shoo-in for Miss USA to not only losing, but being reviled and mocked for the answer on gay marriage she gave to pageant judge Perez Hilton, the celebrity gossip blogger.
I knew as soon as I didnt give the PC answer, I knew there was no way I would become Miss USA, said Prejean, 22.
She had gone into the pageant in April believing herself to be the front-runner, and had spent months preparing: she had makeup coaches, walking coaches, accent modification coaches. For the question-and-answer portion of the pageant, she felt more than prepared because she had studied 500 questions. But then came Hiltons question.
Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize gay marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?
I saw all my prep fly by me, said Prejean.

She’s a class act. And if you look at the answer she gave that pervert, it was not even disrespectful, since she said something to the effect that she thought that marriage should be between a man and a woman but that other were entitled to think differently.
So she really didn’t say “I’m right and you’re wrong,” the way that perve and his media supporters did.
I support her!!! I just think the implants kind of spoil what could have been a perfect story.
Having said that she has acted courageously
Speaking of choices, God has a great sense of humor.
In a flash second she could have taken the low road, and all those years of missed cheeseburgers would have been worth it, but she didn’t. She’ll do great on the talk circuit. Lord knows more men will show up with their wives than usually do. More power to you Ms. Prejean.
I crrrrrrringed when she talked about “respect” and “honor” of the promiscuous, disease ridden, deviant homosexual lifestyle. The sodomites hate you as it is Ms. Prejean, go ahead and call it like it is.
Who are you to criticize another man’s servant? The most beautiful thing about Miss Prejean is her character. In an instant, doing what was right was more important to her than fulfilling her personal ambition, that she had worked so hard to get. She is a wonderful example to us all. She loves God more than her own life. The pageant was unworthy of her.
Hilton's God-given 'inner beauty' really shines through...
God bless you, Miss Prejean.
Marriage between a man and a woman:bizarre only to the bizaare.
All is vanity saith the Lord
Give me a break...... her breast or lack of have nothing to do with her religious beliefs and that is a hypocritical criticism.... I’m so sick of people who think they know what is right for someone or that they are all knowing and better than thou.....
It’s all good, bro. When it all happened, some Christians on here were hammering her for the content of her modeling photos. We don’t need to shoot our wounded. We need to circle the wagons and support them. The perfect woman doesn’t exist. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. If the worst thing you could say about me is “He’s had plastic surgery”, I would be doing pretty good! We all stumble in many ways. Rejoice in what is good. She needs our prayers. She has a target on her back.
