Houston Man Slammed Against Car, Ticketed Over Obama ‘Joker’ Posters

.

A Houston man was handcuffed and assaulted by cops for posting anti-Obama flyers around his town, actions described as “criminal vandalism” by police and some local residents, despite the fact that giant pro-Obama murals are openly displayed in the same neighborhood for all to see.

21-year-old Mark Fuhre, an Alex Jones Show listener, decided to post the flyers even though the Infowars Obama Joker Poster Contest had ended, because he wanted to alert his neighbors to the cult of personality being manufactured around Obama and how the establishment is stifling any criticism of the President by constantly invoking racism.

Fuhre believed that he had a first amendment right to express his opinion, just as those that spray painted giant Obama “HOPE” murals in the same neighborhood had done without opposition.

Dude, I live here. I think I have more facts than you do.
I know the current state of affairs. You don’t know what the laws are and you definitey do not know if they are being applied equally.
And who really cares if the person that turned him in is an obama supporter? What does that have to do with anything? That does NOT justify the anti-obama guy breaking the law!

Your photos from “another town” don’t mean much since the laws that deal with signage ordinances are per city. One city may allow them, but the city next door may not. Neither of the photos or locations you have provided are from the same town (Kingswood) that this incident occurred so your argument is mute.

Billboard laws are differnt than building signage laws. You keep comparing apples to oranges and that just doesn’t fly. Again, this incident happened in a suburb of Houston; not in Houston proper so the Houston laws do NOT apply.

The Houston Museum of Fine Arts and other stores around town sell this book.

Review

"Some people join Greenpeace and throw themselves in front of assive whaling ships.. which is a good thing, but not all of us are destined to become committed social activists. Inspired by the philosophy that great change can begin with smal steps, The Guerilla Art Kit is about inventive ways to not only take a stand on issues about which you feel passionate, but also contribute to the world creatively." -- Frances Atkinson --Make It Yourself, August 4, 2007

"The Guerilla Art Kit contains everything you need to put your message out into the world. " --The Brunswick St. Bookstore, 2008

"The Guerilla Art Kit shows how small artistic acts can start a revolution. Release your inner artist or activist using the step by step excersizes, cut out projects, sticker ideas and more." --Avenue Bookstore

"The most apealing feature to this new work is its whimsical apearance. The small 6 x 7.5 manual looks as if the author has just finished asembling it with a particular reader in mind.... The thrill of anonymity and adding to the environment creatively is quite appealing." -- Beth Hemke Shapiro --Fore Word, December 1, 2007

"author-turned-guerilla artist Keri Smith describes a basic formula for a seed bomb that incldes two parts native seeds, three parts compost, five parts red or brown clay(find this at a ceramic supply store), and some water. Form together in a small penny-sized ball, dry for 24 to 48 hours, and drop at will. " --Whole Living, June, 2008

"the perfect gift for your socially concious, NoLogo-loving friend who is too polite to throw a trash can through the window of Starbucks. Smith never turns preachy as she explains hwo to transform your environment and get other people thinking with simple tools like chalk, wheat paste, yarn and found objects." -- RL --Time Out Chicago, November 22-28, 2007

"the untrained would-be Banksy will appreciate her clear instructions, cool illustrations, and handy list of books and websites for further reading." --Time Out Chicago, November 22, 2008

...a collection of step-by-step projects and idea-inducing tips for aspiring creatives and activists alike....Get ready to leave things way more interesting than you found them. -- Penescola Independent News, September 2007

The Museum would appear to be justifying this as "free speech" (which is what pornographers claimed). And if it is public property (or approved private property) what business is it for the city to regulate "free speech"?

PS, the graffiti task force has also taken issue with people who have the property owner's approval spray painting on their property.

Officers have been known to embelish what they put in the report. The words they use under oath are sworn testimony. Officers have been known to back down on statements in the report when it comes to court.

Either they lie under oath or they lie in their signed reports.

I have to go with the testimony in court over paperwork.

Well that explains his absence from George Noory's CoastToCoastAM. Jones was a virtual co-host while he was attacking Bush -- now that he's going after President Obama I guess Noory wants nothing to do with him.

Are the Greys neo-cons too?!!!

I don’t quite understand the hostility in your post.
I have never said that anyone had to know the Penal Code cover to cover to know what they are talking about. However, only an idiot would post those signs or paint a mural without checking the local laws first.

I have been very clear, if you actually read my posts, that I don’t know all of the facts and that we should wait for ALL of the facts. Apparently you missed the fact that I have been debating a single person and only stated that this one person did not know the facts. I’ve been responding back and forth with the same person, unless you missed that. I was not condemning all of the freepers, by any means.

And yes, anyone that makes automatic assumptions that the cops were wrong and this is a pro-obama conspiracy by the cops is spouting off rhetoric and not the facts (ie. they don’t know what they are talking about). That behavior makes all conservatives/freepers look irrational and look like we are just looking for an excuse to pick a fight.

However, it is appropriate for me to point out that there are differences in the law, the level of legal enforcement, and the differences in city ordinances. It is also appropriate to point out that extentuating circumstances could be at play here.

You claim your calling me out, but really you missed the point. I never once claimed that either the activist or the cops were at fault. I never made any assumptions of that sort. I consistently stated that we should wait for the facts, but as is, there seems to be more to this story. As a matter of default, since we have only heard from the activist and not a single bystander, cop, or city official, we have NOT, by definition, heard the whole story.

As to my tone being unlike the cops you know; well I’m sorry that I don’t fit the mold, but if you look at my profile, I am a reserve officer if my spare time and a accountant in my full-time. I’ve been through basic and advance SWAT schools and I’m an EMT. I seriously doubt you know too many cops that have my specific background, but it is what it is.

I agree that some cops have been known to lie, but I’ve also known a lot of law violators that tend to lie also.

You know, I haven’t met too many speeders that believe they deserved the ticket. Most blame the cop or claim that they were only driving as fast of everyone else; as if two wrongs make a right.

As conservatives, we must hold people accountable for their actions. As I’ve said before, I’m not condemning you for going with your gut reaction. I’m only saying, wait for ALL of the facts and we’ll see if the cops or the activist are lying.

I also think it is wrong to assume that if a person is a cop then they must be a liar. People are people and the job does not make a person moral or immoral. People decide that on their own irrespective of their occupation.

At least in TX, you can’t paint, post, or otherwise deface someone’s property in the name of the 1st amendment, without consent.

They go easy on liberal nuts:

Self-proclaimed environmentalists arrested for vandalism(11:41 PM CST on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 )

Four teenagers, who claim to be environmentalists, have been charged with vandalizing dozens of SUVs.

The three boys and one girl are accused of causing more than $100,000 in damage....

Investigators say 18-year-old Randall Heinrichs was the leader of the group and was on probation for burning an American flag last year at an elementary school.

...Investigators are not calling them hate crimes, but rather misguided mischief. "I think by and large it is a very confused group of teens," says Hickman. "I guess you can characterize them as not really having a clue."

Cy-Fair teen is charged in flag burnings (burned someone else's flags) (Houston Chronicle April 21, 2003, 10:31PM By S.K. BARDWELL)

An 18-year-old Cy-Fair High School student has been charged with felony arson and felony criminal mischief for two flag-burning incidents in northwest Harris County last month.

Randall W. Heinrichs, of the 14500 block of Enchanted Valley in Cypress, was arrested at his home Saturday -- his birthday. His family posted a total bail of $12,000, and Heinrichs was released to await trial.

...Victoria McCord, owner of Lumber Tag Specialties of the 13300 block of Skinner Road, said he is relieved an arrest has been made in the case.

On March 22, a flag displayed vertically on the side of McCord's business was set afire by someone who climbed the fence to get into the closed shop's grounds.

Two youths were seen running from the business by passers-by, one of whom followed the suspects and got a license plate number.

The flag had been draped on the coffin of McCord's brother, an Army veteran who died in May 1999. At his burial, the flag had been presented to McCord's mother, who died in December.

When they embellish the police report to haul someone in on charges (and evidence comes out to prove the embellishment), it is a lie.

When the officer “cleared” Mayor White's teen-aged daughter (who was out after curfew) of all charges INCLUDING DUI by changing his testimony on the stand (with “no” pressure from the mayor's office), he embellished either in the report or committed perjury.

This is the city of Houston.

I’ve read interviews with the NYPD where they’ve claimed that “the first words out of a suspect’s mouth are always a lie”. That goes for jaywalkers and drivers as well as pickpockets and dope dealers.

That is a rotten attitude to have to. That everyone must be guilty of “something”.

Let me go on record here to say that the works were illegally posted.

Let me also use my earlier posts in this thread to show a HISTORY of such publicly posted works in Houston that were NOT removed by the city (when they are on public property, it is the city’s task to remove them) and the perps were NOT prosecuted even when they later boasted of their activities.

And if the President is cool with it, as he is when he says that he’s seen Shepard Fairey’s work on Stop signs, then this is America 2.0. Accept it.
