Any citizen may sue an organization for racketeering using the RICO law. Because it is a lawsuit, no criminal conviction is needed, and it is based on “a preponderance of the evidence”, *not* “evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.” THIS COULD DESTROY ACORN.
The corrupt organization must violate two or more of a list of offenses. As far as ACORN goes, they have already violated:
“Bringing in, aiding or assisting aliens in illegally entering the country, if the action was for financial gain.”
“Slavery” (abetting child prostitution).
“Fraud” (defrauding the government), and “Bankruptcy Fraud”, and “Theft” (illicit use of taxpayer money to lobby.)
and now “Murder”.
Importantly, these crimes have to be shown to be in a “Pattern of racketeering activity”, which is clearly demonstrated by several instances in different places. This breaks through the use of “cells” to protect the national organization from charges of racketeering.
All of ACORN might be taken down.
