Brian Maloney at The Radio Equalizer blog noticed a development over the summer that seems to have escaped much of the news media: In a whole bunch of major radio markets -- from New York City to San Diego, with St. Louis in between -- Rush Limbaugh's listenership has surged: As frustration with Obama's policies reached a boiling point during August, Americans clearly turned to Rush for help, but the state-run media has yet to take notice.
Specifically, for KFI-AM in Los Angeles, Arbitron reported Limbaugh gained a full share point overall, from 5.9 to 6.9 to take first place with a weekly cume of 635,700 listeners. With men 35-64, the jump was from 4.7 to 5.6. In the 11am hour, Rush pulled in a mammoth 6.3. Yet, Maloney observed:
Judging by the coverage in the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register and Los Angeles Business Journal, this feat was somehow accomplished without the help of the medium's star performer, Rush Limbaugh. In covering the achievement, the latter two publications didn't even mention Rush, while the Times noted Limbaugh only in passing deep into one story and left him out of another entirely.
The numbers from some other large cities:

Obozo is good for my business ... and bad for the MSM
Just wait ‘till the Obamaloon’s FCC Loon-O-Tic tries to change talk radio.
If he wants an insurrection, he’s gonna get it.
One of those faithful listeners would be me :)
there is no msm...it died
I read stories like this and wonder how in the hell a Democrat ever gets elected to ANY office.
Oh, they know. They just ignore it.
The MSM is no longer applicable its the SRM
Fools, idiots, dead people, and traitors voting with fraud mixed in.
It has been about 18 years since I listened to Rush on a regular basis. I agree with the guy when I tune in. It’s instructive when I do turn in. I just haven’t been a person to tune in every day.
Well, I have been recently. I am archiving his show and have been since June. One day we will look back on this time. I want Rush’s comments to be available to me at that time, so I can remember what it was like to live during this time, and what a person like Rush had to say about it.
I think more people should be listening to Rush. Say what you want about the guy, his visions has been very very good over the last twenty plus years. More people should be exposed to it.
Our nation would be much better off, if they were.
Does anyone know anybody who has never listened to Rush, but has tuned in the past 9 months and become a listener?
So, how many listen weekly to el Rushbo now? He is an amazing man. I say he has done more to liberate Americans than any other in the past 50 years, with the only exception being Ronald Reagan.
The GOP runs stiffs like Mccain.
We need a new acronym for MSM.
They are no longer Main Stream.
Sentinel, as a publisher, was nearly closed up in the last year of the Bush administration. It's very difficult to "play defense." But since O came out, I had one book become a bestseller, sold another, then sold another, and we're in negotiations for a junior "Patriot's History of the United States." It has been my best year ever.
Or, to quote Van Jones, "Peeps be hungry fo da trut."
How many, on an average day this Aug, listened to Rush in the USA?
There are a lot of Freepers who “dis” Rush, and yes, he’s had a couple of bad predictions (Hillary wouldn’t win her senate seat). But on a daily basis, I think he is one of the most astute political analysts and philosophers of our lifetime, far brighter than many of the Ph.D.s that I deal with.
Rush is doing the job of the fist amendment and proving that CNN and MSNBC have very little concept of the duties of a free press.
2nd?
Who is 1st. Don’t tell me it’s WBBM...

Perhaps the “Old Media?” For soon they will be extinct.
