How to definitively end the health care "debate" with a simple, irrefutable offer
FactCheck.org ^ | 2009-09-13 | E. Pluribus Unum

I don't want government-run health, but I have figured out how to checkmate the Left on the issue.

Tell them that we will accept ANY plan that requires participation by all senators, congressmen and government employees.

The utter fairness of this offer is patently obvious..

It is also patently obvious that our inside-the-beltway political elite would never accept such a plan.

The next time a Lefty tells you that conservatives don't have a plan, run this one by him.

He'll start babbling about "government cheese," at which point you can tell him that a government job is "government cheese."

Rep. Issa proposed a 1-page law that would give everyone the option of the same healthcare plan Congress gets

Here’s a better plan. People remind Congress critters any federal health care proposal is unconstitutional since Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution does not expressly list regulating health care as a power granted to Congress.

I think the major stumbling block, even with this offer, is that we can’t trust us. They’d say fine, include the public option, death panels, etc. vow they’d be right there beside us. Then, at midnight, they’d exclude themselves.

They’re just no good.

Every Congressperson, their staffs, the President and the entire Executive branch, the Supreme Court and their staffs, and all federal workers.

They all have to go on the government ‘public option’ plan.

No special rules or better scores for being in government, or anything.

Then at least we’re all in the same sinking boat.

There will be a terrible doctor shortage. Everyone know it. Obama cannot give an answer for that.... because there isn’t one.

They wouldn’t do that there’d be an armed insurrection.

They would never accept, have no fear about that.

Health care is not about health care, it's about controlling our lives.

If they're in the same system as us, they can't use it as a weapon.

But this is a great way to checkmate them.

It's the "nuclear option" for our side.

The “government” has no right to subject the American people to something that hasn’t been tested on ‘RATS first!

Well, I sympathize, but I’m afraid they would promise to join, pass their enormous DeathCare bill, and then break their promise.

And we’d be stuck with it.

Alternatively, they would stack the gov panels that ran it, and these panels would simply give them special treatment.

That’s the basic problem. Once gov panels are running it, they will do whatever the hell they want.

You are right, they’d just lie to us to get it passed, and then we’d plat hell enforcing it on them. I don’t trust any of them, or any of their propositions.I want NO bill to pass.

My fear is that the Death Panels will have access to the voter registration rolls and your party affiliation will be the first elimination step for denial of treatment.

That doesn’t work They believe the general welfare clause gives government unlimited power except over those things specifically listed as rights of the people in the amendments. And even those they narrowly define.

I’ve said that from early on, Who would want to spend the money and time it takes to become a doctor for a fixed mediocre salary? Granted, a few of them charge too much, the alternative of not having doctors isn’t a good option.
Zero doesn’t care, because it won’t apply to him or the other communists he plans to have in power.

What a great idea, but unfortunately, I don’t think the politicians will hear the statement. And they certainly aren’t going to give up their Cadillac for the Cavalier that they’re trying to stick the rest of us with.

No thanks.
The communists will accept the Congress-included offer, and use it to their advantage.
The only workable plan that will cover everyone and still lower costs is health savings plans plus catastrophic insurance for everyone.
We should propose that and stick with it.
Health insurance that pays without copayments or deductibles is undesirable, because it artificially stimulates demand for medical care.
Everyone should pay what they can afford out of their own pocket for medical care, and then for major expenses only insurance will pay.

I would add to the idea: all citizens are entitled to the same medical plans available to senate and house members. Including all guarantees.
