What is Beck's "Quarantine" Plan?

Posted on 09/13/2009 4:37:15 AM PDT by NCBraveheart

Ok, could someone explain to me what in the wide, wide world of sports Glenn Beck is talking about? I watched his coverage of the 9-12 march and waited to see what his "plan" was. He wants to "quarantine" DC. He wants to find 56 "re-founders" to stand up to the corruption and re-found the country. HUH?

1. How do you figuratively quarantine DC? 2. If Beck has a Diogenes fantasy that's his thing but 56 honest politicians in DC? Sorry for the cynicism but I don't see it.

If I am wrong please show me how and why.

Here’s what he means...will it work, are there 56 honest politicians, who knows??? He’s assuming there are:

We need to quarantine Washington: Nothing in; nothing out.

We’ve all seen great people head off, newly elected to D.C., and what happens? They change. After a few months or a couple years, you start to think: “What happened to them?” They were infected with the disease of corruption.

No one in and no legislation comes out — infected legislation spreads across our country like… well, a plague.

So what do we do? We stop spreading the disease. It’s time to reconnect with our founding principles. Fifty-six men signed the original documents that every American patriot still believes in with all their heart over 200 years later. Fifty-six men changed the world forever. We currently have 535 people in the United States Congress. You can’t tell me that we don’t have 56 committed patriots there who understand that there’s an illness in D.C. and would like to do something about it, but just don’t know how or what to do.

Let’s offer them the way out.

First of all, we all demand daily to our representatives that they pass nothing until the corruption is stopped.

Second, we let them know that we all make mistakes and we offer them the chance for redemption. If they’ve been part of the problem, come forward, let us know about it and we’ll be forgiving. Now, if you’ve broken the law, obviously, you’ll have to pay for that. But if it’s something that has dishonored you, your office or your family, then confess it, deal with it and we will stand behind you if you help us clean up this mess.

We need to offer a way out to members of Congress. Now we know that some of these people are like Typhoid Mary, just spreading corruption wherever they can. Others, can and will find redemption and feel good about themselves and their country again. Still others have maybe not yet been fully infected.

I had this idea the other night, while reading Thomas Jefferson. Let’s begin the search for the 56 men and women who help us re-found America: Patriots, “refounders” willing to put their nation ahead of themselves and their party affiliation. Stop identifying yourselves as Republicans and Democrats; start identifying yourselves as Americans.

Republicans should begin the cleanup of the GOP and the Democrats clean out the corruption in the Democratic Party. We all know it’s there — so, admit it: Clean up the mess and let’s move on.

So, we stop talking about any policies or legislation passing — a total quarantine. We get Democrats to focus on fixing the Democratic Party and Republicans to focus on the Republican Party. Come out, find a microphone and purge the disease. Come out to CNN, if you’re more comfortable there — it doesn’t matter, just do it and restore your own party.

As for what you can do: You need to apply the pressure on Congress that enforces the quarantine. And, reach out to your neighbor with facts — not with emotion, not with anger, with facts. Don’t worry about the game players — those stuck in the right vs. left rut — forget them and move on. Talk to the reasonable ones.

We can’t seem to agree on anything anymore in this nation. But the one thing on which all reasonable Americans can agree is that we don’t want corruption in our government. In nearly every poll taken for the past several years, it is the No. 2 concern on the minds of the people.

Let’s stop thinking about it and do something about it.

I don't know, but several months ago I suggested a co-ordinated "non-protest" in D.C. during work time when neither the pres nor the press could ignore it. You have about 3 million people go to D.C. "unplanned" so that you don't request parade or speech requests. Drive OLD crappy cars that you can afford to leave there.

Then, when traffic is tied up, be prepared to abandon them and walk in. They can't arrest people who are just "visitors" who "happen" to break out in speeches, esp. if there are 3 million.

I haven't fleshed this out, but I think something like this could be incredibly effective. There aren't enough helos out there to ferry in the "lawmakers" and their staffs. It would resemble one of those French strikes.

I didn’t get it, either — but then, I was dividing my limited mental capacity between Beck and CSPAN’s coverage of the rally....

And the rally, mostly, won... ;)

Let’s see what happens in CONgress this week first.

I think it is a little early to assess the impact on them of what happened yesterday.

I think it was a tease. He mentioned to watch his program on Monday and he would reveal the plan.

Beck should offer “political amnesty” to members of Congress who are willing to admit their sins and change. Purely symbolic, but it would send them a message.

I like your concept. Total gridlock and nowhere to go...hoof it to the capitol.

I don't think there will be any impact from yesterday.

Virtually all of the "impact" is coming from ever more radical statements and actions by Obama/Pelosi/Reid. Notice that Zero's poll number went up about 5% on Ras when he was "on vacation." He is too arrogant to shut up, but if he was smart, and got off the stage for a MONTH, we'd have no chance.

My wife is manic depressive(Bi-polar) and we both feel that Beck might be going through a manic episode.

He looked like he was coming close to becoming unhinged as I watched some of his coverage last night.

I wonder if he hasn't already accomplished what he needed to.

“Ok, could someone explain to me what in the wide, wide world of sports Glenn Beck is talking about?...” LOL

I kinda’ had the same feeling when he was talking. I did not have the patience for his show yesterday. I was starved for news from the Mall. I had to switch Beck off and watch CSPAN.

I think he missed a great opportunity to provide live color commentary on the events. I was expecting him to do “voice overs” on the live feed and maybe have guests in the “booth.” His calm set was too stark a contrast to the excitement growing in D.C.

OK, don’t mean to be rude. That is what Beck said yesterday verbatim taken from the FoxNews site. I didn’t get it then and I don’t get it now.

He’s just looking for 56 people in Congress who are willing to be Americans first, Republican or Democrat second.

I think that if he can do it, they will just be viewed as an oddity in the Capitol. But, it may eventually lead to a third party that draws from both parties, attracting the working people who are sick of busting their butt all week and having to donate a huge percentage of the fruits of their labors to the government (at gunpoint if necessary) so that the money can be used to encourage laziness in individuals and corruption in organizations.

“I didn’t get it then and I don’t get it now.”

Same here.

Is this the ‘Big Thing’ that he has promoting the last week? Is this related to his ‘there will be arrests’ comment last week.

This is all a little too weird for me.

Good idea. Imagine what would happen if the streets---all of them---were literally so full that the pres had to be helo-ed in.

But you know, this BS about 60-70,000 being there, when it certainly was close to a million, and disinformation being spread---when the JAPANESE media gets it right, and the UK media gets it right, well . . .

We are rapidly getting to be a Cold War state where radio free America needs to be beamed in with the real information. If things continue, I could envision Rush and Glenn offshore with massive towers and satellites, beaming in as the government tries to disrupt the broadcasts.

Beck's show has almost become "must watch" becuase of the stuff he covers, and how he's willing to cover it.

Kudos for that.

But I remain VERY uncomfortable with Glen's -- I dunno quite what to call it -- populist utopianism?

He's saying a great deal that needs to be said about the deep radicalism of Obama's administration, and it's many ties to anti-American "new left" radicalism with all it's schemes to undermine and destroy civic order and ordered liberty.

But then he slathers on thick layers of drama queen goo which threaten to discredit the substance.

Still, if he's willing to cover this, and can get the viewership, which he obviously can, then I'll have his back. Although I remain nervous about it.

The manic disorder speculation upthread is interesting. Makes you go, "hmmmmmmm".
