First on TVNewser: John Stossel, the longtime ABC News correspondent and co-anchor of "20/20," is leaving ABC to join Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. TVNewser has learned Stossel will host a weekly, one-hour program for the 2-year-old business channel. He's expected to signed a multi-year deal with Fox which will include regular appearances on Fox News Channel during daytime and primetime. He'll also host four, hour-long specials on Fox News, much like the business/consumer specials he'd hosted for years on ABC.
Stossel, a libertarian, has been appearing on Fox News for years as a guest on shows including "The O'Reilly Factor," "Hannity & Colmes" and "The Big Story."
Stossel joined "20/20" in 1981 and was upped to co-anchor in 2003. TVNewser has learned there was a window in Stossel's ABC contract which allowed him to jump to Fox.
Stossel's departure from ABC means there will soon be another anchor vacancy at the network. Last week, Charlie Gibson announced his retirement paving the way for Diane Sawyer to take over on "World News" beginning in January. "20/20's" other co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas, is one of the top names being mentioned for the GMA slot.

About 2-3 months ago, ABC suits temporarily spiked a Stossel story on the many downsides to Canadian and similar nationalized healthcare systems (UK, etc.).
It was only a semi-spike, as the story eventually aired and was available online.
But Stossel did state on the record that he was upset that ABC yanked the segment from its ORIGINAL air slot on short notice.
“Have my agent get in touch with Fox. That tears it.”
Maybe, but my view still is that people on Fox basically preach to the choir.
Whoa... Great news!
I agree, but it is easy for us (just a couple of schmoes on a website) to insist that these people (Beck, Stossel, et al) carry out their careers being the bait in what is basically an intellectual shark tank.
Ok so Rupert Murdoch peddles sex and sensationalism...what can I do about that? He also provides Fox News and Fox Business Channel which are invaluable resources that at least provides some balance to the onslaught of lefty propaganda in virtually every print and electronic media outlet.
I don't understand who is horswaggling the conservatives.
Now... if FNC can only get rid of WHOREALDO!
Trade Shep Smith and Ghoraldo Riviera to them!
Apparently, he is looking for a bigger audience.
is there any chance Fox could do a headline news channel, really I listen to talk radio all day I really need to see bill-o and hannity in the evening (sarcasm) and of course the chuckle factory fox and friends in the morning...geez that thing sucks. If i want to watch that bs i can turn on good morning america, today, or a local affiliate. I want news in the morning not celeb gossip
With Beck’s viewership, I highly doubt he will be going anywhere soon. Perhaps Fox would cut back on the replays if they want to add to their lineup.

especially that health care special. I think that was the turning point
Not Shep! He’s good for car chases.....!! Breaks up the day!
Agreed. Stossel was basically the lone voice of dissent at ABC.
Comapring the election success of Liberaltarians to that of the GOP is a total joke.
Name one Lib’tarian member of Congress...name one Lib’tarian politican in any meaningful state office
As bad as the GOP is today....the Lib’tarians have never amounted any serious challenge to any office. And, after 9/11, their results have been worse
Mr. Ailes, you owe me a keyboard....
I wonder if Stossel is going to do an expose on Acorn?
I agree...word for word.
I hear he’s not a nice guy, and he doesn’t agree with conservatives on some things. I don’t think he cares about illegeal immigration. He was arguing against a border fence on one of his ABC specials. When he was on Hannity, he was disagreeing with Hannity a lot, but I can’t remember what those things were.
Best move he could have made! The last of the sane voices leaves the mainstream networks.
That’s wonderful! I love John, he’s smart and pretty fearless. I think he’ll be a great addition to FOX
