First on TVNewser: John Stossel, the longtime ABC News correspondent and co-anchor of "20/20," is leaving ABC to join Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. TVNewser has learned Stossel will host a weekly, one-hour program for the 2-year-old business channel. He's expected to signed a multi-year deal with Fox which will include regular appearances on Fox News Channel during daytime and primetime. He'll also host four, hour-long specials on Fox News, much like the business/consumer specials he'd hosted for years on ABC.
Stossel, a libertarian, has been appearing on Fox News for years as a guest on shows including "The O'Reilly Factor," "Hannity & Colmes" and "The Big Story."
Stossel joined "20/20" in 1981 and was upped to co-anchor in 2003. TVNewser has learned there was a window in Stossel's ABC contract which allowed him to jump to Fox.
Stossel's departure from ABC means there will soon be another anchor vacancy at the network. Last week, Charlie Gibson announced his retirement paving the way for Diane Sawyer to take over on "World News" beginning in January. "20/20's" other co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas, is one of the top names being mentioned for the GMA slot.

So that is the reason Fox dominates the cable news and even surpasses Katie’s show on CBS, huh? All them choir members.
Just as people are awakening to the lies and corruption in our government, they are also beginning to realize that ABC, CBS and NBC are all butt-boys for OBAMA. Fox is the only cable network that will one day soon pass the idiot MSM channels in viewership. Soon, very soon!
This is such good news....they will all want to be on FOX soon. He is lucky he got in when he did!!
FOX DOMINATION!!
Agreed about MSNBC but geez a "ghetto?"
Don't fall into the trap of assuming that the establishment media is some kind of free and open environment where the free exchange of ideas occurs and every point of view is given equal respect. That is a myth.
They, the dinosaur media, has the air of respectability because they have been around longer and have built up that facade.
Case in point, Walter Cronkite, he was a lefty tool and was closer to Ted Baxter than the "elder statesman" of journalism.
But since "Uncle Walter" was around since the earth cooled he garnered an air of authority and respectability that was undeserved.
Fox News should sell Tucker Carlson at some garage sale for $5.
dont think this is great news, we need to have more voices for our side outside of Fox News
Why??? The Independents and non-nutz dems are moving over to Fox in droves. Who doesn’t know about Fox? The hell with the idiots that get their “news” from the state run media.
Let the state run media libs die by the sword they live by.
I disagree, he is a libertarian and had to really fight to get his healthcare expose shown on ABC, they cancelled it the first go-round... he is a square peg over there and will fit in at Fox much better.
He just did a great piece on what the kids of this nation are being taught in school, the kind of real garbage published in so-called textbooks. Not just revisionist history, out-and-out distortion; it was eye-opening. I would never have seen this had he still been over at PMSNBC.
Not celebrating the Liberaltarian Stossel coming to Fox. Actually...it shows how Fox is moving more left.
Do people really understand what Libertarianism really is? Its Liberalism for people who will not admit they are liberals.
I do not celebrate people who believe in open borders, illegal aliens, weak national security, foreigners are better than Americans, and shipping our economic wealth to Communist China. Libertarians are every UN-lovers wet dream
If Liberaltarianism is so good...why do they fail so miserbaly at election time?
Stossel will make Fox slip further and further to the left
Do you prefer a commie ghetto? Put on your gear and walk through the ABCCBSNBC neighborhood - to understand ‘ghetto’ w/all it’s pimps and whores who use the tool of propaganda to pull you in. No thanks - I’ll stay on the opposite of the tracks, the high rent district, not the state run ‘project’.
I agree with what you are saying. All the more reason that the few people in the media who went against the grain should stay there. Stossel was an example of that. Glenn Beck was an example of that. Now they are both at Fox News. Fox News has some conservatives, but they aren’t a conservative channel anyway, they are just a conduit for Rupert Murdoch’s sex & sensationalism. But they have hornswaggled a lot of conservatives.
Last I checked, Democrats did better than Republicans last year. So using your line of argument, that means Dems are better than Republicans.
I disagree with Libertarians on many issues but agree on many others. They are not the enemy.
Just keeping it ‘fair and balanced’.
I hope you're right!

This is fantastic news. I would imagine that ABC held him back on many good dirt digging stories out there. He is one of the few good investigative journalist out there.
By the way, you are joking yourself if you think Fox is the high rent district. Fox is the red light district. Sex and gossip with a few conservatives slapped on.
Excellent!
I agree. The media has become more polarized Stoessel’s move. On the one side is Fox and talk radio. On the other is everything else.
The bad part is that while Fox is fair and balanced; they do allow the communist view to be presented even though it discredits itself when confronted with fact. But it is presented. For the rest of the state run media, conservatism won’t be presented other than to vilify it.
I'd rather they fire little sheppy smith - trade him over - he doesn't belong on FOX - and his ratings are WAY low
