Matthew Vadum recently reported that Barack Obama was operating under the radar to subvert observances of the anniversary of the September 11 attacks by using anti-American leftists Van Jones and Lennox Yearwood to hijack the day with a radical environmental agenda under the guise of Green the Block, a joint project of their respective groups Green for All and the Hip Hop Caucus.
Sure enough, the project has been pretty much ignored by the media, even by the conservative media that covered the Van Jones saga.
Below are examples of events listed at Green the Block for this Friday, September 11, 2009--the eight anniversary of the attacks.

This is STRAIGHT out of the Cuban Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDRs), which they also replicated in Sandinista Nicaragua, and Bolivarian Venezuela.
Exactly the same tactics. And on 9-11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah it is pretty unbelievable. So there is no national program to officially honor and recognize those who lost their lives and those who saved others on 9/11. Just this green the block crap?! Wow :(
I generally dislike the Jersey Girls, but I think this would be a good time to hear from them. I can’t believe the chutzpah of Zero and his gang!
Wait till Michelle Malkin and/or Ann Coulter get their hands on THIS.
The only thing thats going to erase 9/11/2001 is if they drop nukes on us on 9/11/2009

9/11 we remember. Some of us meant it when we said we’ll never forget. 9/12 we move forward.
As a matter of fact I still have the flag on my car antenna.
I understand completely! I think of the lives lost and the loved ones still trying to cope with that loss and this bozo and his cronies come along and dance on their graves.
Our country is too good for them and we need to get them the h*ll out!
Apparently, the Terrorists have won.
Last one out turns off the lights.

The color green has a special place in Islam.
It is used in the decoration of mosques, the bindings of Qur'ans, the silken covers for the graves of Sufi saints, and in the flags of various Muslim countries. Green has been associated with Islam for many centuries. It is not clear why this is so.
Some say green was Muhammads favorite color and that he wore a green cloak and turban. Others believe that it symbolizes nature and life, hence the physical manifestation of God.
In the Qur'an (Surah 76:21 http://www.openburhan.net/ob.php?sid=76&vid=21 ), it is said that the inhabitants of paradise will wear green garments of fine silk. While the reference to the Qur'an is verifiable, it is not clear if other explanations are reliable or mere folklore.
Regardless of its origins, the color green has been considered especially Islamic for centuries.
Dumpster Diving—he just wants to see how far the New Recruits are willing to go to lick his shoes.
3 generations of family and education deprivation is finally paying off for the entrenched commies.
Not as long as there's still one person willing to stand up and yell, "YOU LIE!"
Monday He gave a Speech to his union boys, Tuesday he speaks to Our Children. Today he speaks to Everybody who will listen. Now Green day in place of Memorial. Mr. Wilson still called Him a Liar, and Saturday is the Tea Party.
