Valerie Jarrett Addresses the Islamic Society of North America
Posted by Hammad Hammad
Continuing President Obamas outreach to Muslims, Senior Advisor to the President Valerie Jarrett spoke at the Islamic Society of North America's 46th Annual Convention. The Convention, themed "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness," brought together thousands of Muslim Americans to our nations capital over the July 4th weekend.
The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) maintains that it is the largest Muslim American organization in the United States. It was founded more than forty years ago and aims to serve as a meeting place for people and ideas, while building bridges of understanding and cooperation.
In her remarks, Jarrett spoke of the importance of President Obamas Cairo speech, where he emphasized that the United States and Muslim communities share fundamental values, such as justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of human beings.
She quoted the President:
"Since our founding, American Muslims have enriched the United States. They have fought in our wars, served in government, stood for civil rights, started businesses, taught at our universities, excelled in our sports arenas, won Nobel prizes, built our tallest building, and lit the Olympic torch."
She continued by emphasizing that:
I will tell you, it is not always easy to identify American "Muslim" business leaders, scientists, artists, athletes, and so on. Not because there arent any, but because there are too many, and they are known for their talents and character not simply their religion. This is a great thing. It is a reflection of the American dream, which is ultimately rooted in these values that we all share values that are common to all of humanity. And just as we share common values, we also share common dreams for security, progress, and opportunity.

Senator Obama has one secret weapon in his wife, Michelle. The other is his chief confidante and valued adviser, Chicago businesswoman Valerie Jarrett. Just who is this hidden tower of strength? asks Jonathan Van Meter.
Valerie Jarrett’s real clout comes less from her career than from her extraordinary connections and seemingly endless capacity for extracurriculars. As one observer put it, “She knows everyone in Chicago.” Obama’s media adviser Anita Dunn recently cracked that “she may be one of the most plugged-in people in the United States.” Or as Susan Sher says, “Whatever situation she’s in, she rises to the top,” enumerating how Jarrett did just that at City Hall, where she ended up in the famously difficult post of chairing the Chicago Transit Authority for eight years; at the Chicago Stock Exchange; and on the board of the University of Chicago Hospital, which she now also chairs. “She is like a god in Chicago, an icon,” says Adrienne Pitts, a 40-year-old lawyer who takes every opportunity to see Jarrett speak at events around the city, something she does with less frequency now that Jarrett is so often traveling with Team Obama or helicoptering into problem situations or trying to catch some of the big, joyous campaign moments and watch history change.
as “the other side of Barack’s brain,” “Barack’s secret weapon,” and “a female version of Barack,”
Jarrett’s unlikely, unusual, unsumupable childhood began in Iran, where she was born in 1956. Not unlike Obama’s being “from” Hawaii or “from” Indonesia
her failed marriage to Dr. William Robert Jarrett, the son of the legendary Chicago Sun-Times journalist Vernon Jarrett, she wrote back, “Married in 1983, separated in 1987, and divorced in 1988. Enough said.” When I ask her about her husband she says, “He was a physician. He passed away.” When? I ask. “I want to say in about 1991.” Is there anything you can tell me about the relationship? “Not so much,” she says. “We grew up together. We were friends since childhood. In a sense, he was the boy next door. I married without really appreciating how hard divorce would be.” After they split, she says, “he got very sick quite suddenly and died” of a heart attack.

Here’s a REAL TASTY insight thread (posted by Freeper Fred Nerks) into how Valerie’s daddy and FRANK MARSHALL DAVIS, (you know Frank, he bounced baby Barry on his knee FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS) might have “helped” place the Obamassiah in his current “position”:

3) And they treat women like crap (e.g. Clinton, the Kennedys, et al)
WE can thank Teddy Kennedy that this plague is in the USA in such numbers
“We have about two dozen so-called czars — the pay czar, the car czar, all these czars in the White House,” said Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), speaking on “Fox News Sunday.” “And that really is an affront to the Constitution, because the Constitution was set up to say that the president is the executive, but the people who manage the government — the secretaries, the Cabinet members, of which I was one — have to be approved by the Congress and have to report to the Congress.”
The only person Sunday to offer a defense of Jones was former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, who has emerged as a titular leader of the country’s liberal movement.
Dean told “Fox News Sunday” that Jones was “brought down,” and he called it a “loss for the country.”
He said that he had spoken with Jones, and that Jones should not be held responsible for signing the Sept. 11 petition.
“He was told by the people waving those clipboards around that he was signing something else,” Dean said. “I think that’s too bad.”
“WE can thank Teddy Kennedy that this plague is in the USA in such numbers.”
I prefer to think of him as Ded Kennedy...or...Senator Kennedy (D-HELL)
My recollection is that Islamists helped make the US Navy the great force that it remains to this day. Other than that, I don't remember much that Islam contributed to the US until about 1993.
Of course there was that Black pseudo Muslim stuff in the 60’s.
They also treat thier women with respect!
“Continuing President Obamas outreach to Muslims....”
Like how he coordinated with the brits to allow al-Megrahi to be released. Of course the Muslims did not react exactly how Obama and Brown had predicted.
The first is that the film directly challenges their claim to speak on behalf of all American Muslims. In fact, the film is narrated by Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a devout American-born Muslim physician, a former U.S. Navy lieutenant commander, and president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy.
She is downright ugly and she isn’t much of a looker either.
[... He said that ... Jones should not be held responsible
for signing the Sept. 11 petition. (Jones) was told
by the people waving those clipboards around that he
was signing something else...]
What a Grade School excuse.
Here’s a guy that signed something he didn’t read?
We’re supposed to believe that and then excuse him
for it? Then we’re supposed to believe he is the
smart guy advising the President? None of it works
for me. The only people it’s working for are those
who also DON’T READ WHAT THEY SIGN ... into law!
Why Not, She hired Van Jones
she makes linda hunt look hot. (Shadout Mapes for you Dune fans)
