SKIP DAY Sept. 8 (Drudge Headline)

Right blasts Obama speech to students

President Barack Obama's plans for a televised back-to-school address to students next week are drawing fire from some conservatives, who say he's just trying to indoctrinate them to his political beliefs.

In the Sept. 8 speech, Obama will challenge students to work hard, set goals for their education and take responsibility for their learning, Education Secretary Arne Duncan said in a letter to principals.

The Education Department is encouraging teachers to create lesson plans around the speech, using materials provided on the department website, that urge students to learn about Obama and other presidents.

"He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens," Duncan said in a press release.

But already, some conservatives are crying foul. The chairman of the Florida Republican Party is condemning Obama's speech as an attempt to "indoctrinate America's children to his socialist agenda."

"The idea that school children across our nation will be forced to watch the President justify his plans for government-run health care, banks, and automobile companies, increasing taxes on those who create jobs, and racking up more debt than any other President, is not only infuriating, but goes against beliefs of the majority of Americans, while bypassing American parents through an invasive abuse of power," Chairman Jim Greer said in a press release.

Added conservative talk show host Tammy Bruce, in a Twitter feed: "Make September 8 Parentally Approved Skip Day. You are your child's moral tutor, not that shady lawyer from Chicago." And conservative author Michelle Malkin said the lesson plans have a "heavy activist bent."

Texas school districts are discussing whether the president's speech will be shown-some districts are leaving it up to individual teachers with an opt out parents who don't want their children to view the speech, according to the Houston Chronicle.

In his letter to principals, Duncan said viewing of the speech is encouraged, not mandatory. It's the first time a president has ever given a speech addressed directly to students.

“Get Schooled: You have a right” co-developed by the Gates Foundation:

“Get Schooled: You Have the Right” will air commercial-free, and kicks off a five-year national initiative co-developed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Viacom that allows the corporate world and communities to address the challenges facing America's public schools.”

>>>>While they're at it. Will they also educate the kids about how fortunate they were they didn't get caught in the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation abortion and population control mill?<<<<

“Warren Buffett Donation to Bill Gates’ Foundation Means Millions for Abortion”

“...The donation causes huge concerns for pro-life advocates as the Gates Foundation has given the Planned Parenthood Federation of America abortion business almost $12.5 million since 1998, including funds to persuade teenagers to support abortion and to lobby the United Nations to advance pro-abortion proposals.

The Gates foundation has also given nearly $21 million to the International Planned Parenthood abortion business over the last seven years. The funds have gone to promote abortions in third-world nations and to set up pro-abortion family planning centers in South America, Africa and eastern European nations.

Bill Gates and his wife have also spent millions promoting abortion closer to home.

Their foundation has given nearly $2 million to Planned Parenthood of Central Washington and Planned Parenthood of Western Washington to fund abortion centers. The Gates Foundation also gave the Planned Parenthood Federation of Canada more than $1.3 million to promote abortions there.

“The tragedy of Bill Gates’ support of abortion and population control is that technology leads to development,” says Steven Mosher, President of the Population Research Institute.

“Unfortunately, the developing world will grow old before it develops because of population control. Gates, in supporting population control, is out of step with other great minds who have viewed people as humanity's greatest resource,” Mosher said....”

Is a good day for my kids to be in school. I imagine it will be some U.S.A flag T-shirts and a pocket Constitution for them. I’m guessing an Obama/Joker “Why so Socialist?” T-shirt might be “distracting to other students” or whatever it says in the dress code.

A teacher last year was concerned about my conservative 11-year old daughter getting picked on by the 92% of the kids in class that are liberals. Not to worry we told him. Her end of the year project was a poster-board debunking manmade global warming.

that urge students to learn about Obama

Too bad there is no way for students to learn about Obama, since he's hidden all his records.

If I had kids they would either stay home that day or I’d teach them a few new words to mention to the teacher that his/her Mom calls Obama. ;)

That is awesome that your 12 year old young lady is so well grounded to stand up to so many of her classmates. You have done an exceptional job as a parent.

“3. Please write an essay on what George Washington, Jon Adams and Thomas Jefferson would do to Obama if they could get their hands on him.”

Public School Kids answer: “Who are those first three guys? And why do they want to get their hands on Obama? They must not like black people or something!”

The idea that a preK-4th grade kid would “opt out” is ridiculous, unless they are offered playground time instead.

I can remember during the Ford/Carter election I was in K. My teacher made us all vote with beans in little margin containers for Ford or Carter. When Ford won, she made us revote because it was a mistake. This was before the actual election day. It stuck out to me that it was wierd to say the results were wrong after her explanation of voting.

I wouldn’t trust a teacher with my kid’s morals, logic skills, political views, etc. Ever. Heck, when the current assistant principal can’t pronounce “ask” properly, why even trust them with English.

I sent a note to my elementary school asking if they were showing the speech and pointing out the things in the education dept letter that bothered me. I asked for the time it will begin so that I could pick my son up.

My wife called the Principle of the elementary school here and told her that our 8 year old will not be permitted to attend until after the brainwash by the Democrats on September 8 and that absolutely no retribution or punishment of our child will be tolerated or all hell we break loose and we don’t mean “just a little bit”. The Principle ( a fat woman) said “that will be fine”. It is on tape.
This using little children is bull crap. We now undestand that several parents called today and we expect 20% of students who have parents with brains instead of “American Idol” mentality are doing the same. SHUT THIS DOWN!!
