The idea that a preK-4th grade kid would “opt out” is ridiculous, unless they are offered playground time instead.
I can remember during the Ford/Carter election I was in K. My teacher made us all vote with beans in little margin containers for Ford or Carter. When Ford won, she made us revote because it was a mistake. This was before the actual election day. It stuck out to me that it was wierd to say the results were wrong after her explanation of voting.
I wouldn’t trust a teacher with my kid’s morals, logic skills, political views, etc. Ever. Heck, when the current assistant principal can’t pronounce “ask” properly, why even trust them with English.
I sent a note to my elementary school asking if they were showing the speech and pointing out the things in the education dept letter that bothered me. I asked for the time it will begin so that I could pick my son up.
“I asked for the time it will begin so that I could pick my son up.”
That might not be enough. Apparently, teachers have been provided with follow-up lesson plans and discussion points (that may go on for days after?).
