So now the mainstream media is in catch-up mode. Having quietly fretted as Obamas poll numbers drifted lower and misrepresented the extent of independent voters support, they now must explain that the town hall crowds werent simply crackpots or dupes of the insurance industry. Those people are actually quite representative of the electorate especially the electorate willing to turn out to vote in the 2010 congressional elections. And while they swooned at Obama press conferences, the media must now admit that Obama has been colossally ineffective at persuading the public.
The catch-up phenomenon is nothing new. We saw it with the Iraq war surge. For months and months the military, a few stalwart senators like John McCain and Joe Lieberman, conservative media outlets, and bipartisan military experts reported back that the surge was making a difference. The New York Times, the weekly not-much-news magazines, and the network broadcasts kept mum. But then shortly before then-candidate Obama was to visit Iraq, the mainstream media rushed to close the gap between the reality on the ground and their own gloom-and-doom reporting. It was catch-up time. The surge hadnt suddenly worked; its success just couldnt be ignored any longer...

Some in the MSM are trying to explain why Obama is failing and republicans are not getting blamed, not Bush, not McCain, not Newt.
How about the McCain or Die republicans that told us if McCain loses Democrats will be able to pass anything Obama wants? Now of course they claim Obama is even worse than they thought promoting a backlash, as if they predicted this all along. But they (Levin, Hannity and others) were predicting ‘death camps’ and Obama using the ‘fairness doctrine’ to shut down opposing media(now would be a good time if he was to do it.) . So it’s hardly like Democrats are worse than predicted.
I dont know about you but I see FNC doing a great job reporting on democrats, and FNC has not shut it down yet here in Liberal Maryland, Levin not down either,
Obama. Your going DOWN! America HATES Marxists.
Try calling my hatred for Marxism a hate crime you left wing dilrods!
Maybe so. But how are we going to sweep out the media. We can’t vote them out of office.
Exactly, condescending as only an elitist liberal can be.
Clue: The media lives and dies by viewers/subscriptions and associated ad revenue.
You're right. In fact it seems that only Helen Thomas (of whom I am not a fan, except for this one time) is the only reporter that challenged Gibbs when he said, "we'll talk about it tomorrow" and she said, "why tomorrow, let's talk about it now". And Gibbs beat a hasty retreat with a stupid look on his face, and said, "Ok then, let's discuss it now". So at least Helen Thomas put the squeeze on Gibbs and he did not want to look like an ass by bullying past 90+ yo Helen Thomas. This whole episode was in regard to 0bozo's townhall meeting a couple of months ago, and his favorite tactic of pre-selecting questioners & questions prior to his "public" townhall charades. This is only time I have ever seen Gibbs forced to stay on a subject instead of just glossing pass it. Hopefully now that the shine is finally starting to come off 0bozo the commie pig usurper, there will be other news reporters that hold Gibb's feet to the fire.
Thanks for the ping - here what Rush had to say ...
RUSH:
Obamas health care plan will be,
one, written by a committee head who doesnt understand it
two, passed by Congress that has not read it;
three, signed by a president who smokes;
four, funded by a Treasury chief who didnt pay his taxes;
five, overseen by a Surgeon General who is obese; and,
six, financed by a country thats nearly broke.
What could possibly go wrong with this?
More proof that in the end, the TRUTH will win out.
Maybe health care falling apart is a backlash against the non-stop Kennedy fawning by the MSM.
America hates elitists.
We’re OK with elites - folks who achieve mightily.
It’s just when you think you’re so elite that you have the right and duty to make our decisions for us that we get our backs up.
ROTF - thanks.
He's a mere 80, a veritable child. I've got him by 3 years.
Well, OK. His sell-by date is long past under Zerocare.
That is certainly what they tried to do, but ironically the economy, and the debt, and the same plan on stimulus is what stopped them. And the house liberals.
There were some MSM types that predicted that Obama would have trouble holding his diverse party together, and that’s back when he was popular(this is a train wreck now) . Talk radio tended to play up the democrats power in getting things done.
Rush to his favor, warned us many time how bad it would be if McCain won the presidency even after the primary. He also injected humor in the situation.
bttt
Lulz at the liberal mainstream media...LULZ!
From your lips to G-d’s ear.
"After I do my Baghdad Bob impersonation, I go into
my Vinnie Barbarino act. Who? What? Where? When?"
Well, I can tell ya that to this working stiff, who will be required to provide a portion of the tax receipts necessary for government doctorcrats to file for permission to the Assistant to the new Vice-Undersecretary of Geriatric Evaluation at the Department of Health & Human Services to extend his life under Obamacare, he certainly seems as though he's outlived his productive use to society.
Let's face it, a head of cauliflower has more discernible cognitive activity than his does at this point. We should prolly save a tree, ditch the paperwork & just pull the pathetic old geezer's plug right now to put him out of his misery today. Senator Kennedy surely would have wanted it that way. Let's do it for Teddy, America!
Maybe so. But how are we going to sweep out the media. We cant vote them out of office.
Just continue what you are doing...
- refuse to buy or subscribe to newspapers
- refuse to buy or subscribe to MSM magazines
- don’t give web hits to MSM news sites, if possible
- don’t watch broadcast network TV news
- don’t watch CNN or MSNBC
- let advertisers know that you aren’t watching
Recently there was a big dust-up in NYC when it was revealed a reporter whose paper is tanking went to the New York Mets begging for a job. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Soon Paul Krugman could be ringing you up at the corner 7-11.
