Group questions Catholic funeral for Kennedy

A Catholic pro-life leader has some scathing words concerning Senator Ted Kennedy's Catholic funeral.

Thomas Euteneuer, president of Human Life International, released this statement concerning Senator Kennedy. "We must, as a matter of precept, pray for the salvation of heretical Catholics like Senator Edward Kennedy, but we do not have to praise him, let alone extol him with the full honors of a public Catholic funeral and all the adulation that attends such an event."

He adds that while Senator Kennedy called himself Catholic, like Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Vice President Joe Biden, they are actually wolves in sheep's clothing.

"They do not hold to the teaching of the church. They, in fact, take every opportunity seemingly to contradict the teaching of our church," Euteneuer says. "So in the case of Senator Edward Kennedy, he was not only against his church's teaching on the issue of abortion, but the same with embryonic stem cell research, the same with gay marriage andThomas Euteneuer (Human Life International) various other issues which set him in diametric opposition to his church's very well-defined and clearly articulated teaching."

Perhaps Teddy didn't understand that causing the death of a young lady then lying about the tragedy, causing his young wife to become an alcoholic, divorcing her then remarrying, pushing an abortion and socialist agenda and waddling around half drunk, were sins.

One thing is certain, he'll not talk about his sorry life with Mary Jo.

I’m sure that Chris Dodd is mourning greatly. After all, who is he going to find to make a waitress sandwich with now?

During the viewing a waitress from the Brasserie was leaning over to give Teddy a kiss goodbye, and accidentally fell into the casket. Chris Dodd was nearby, and while everyone thought he was rushing to her aid, he jumped in on top.

By publicizing Teddy’s letter to the Pope it seems the Church sought to excuse his bad acts because he did some things the Church considers good acts.

Shame on them.

He praises himself for being against the death penalty yet makes no mention of the millions of babies murdered in the womb.

Shame on the officiant who read the letter.

I looked at this video of the funeral Mass. Where are the black friends and relatives of the Kennedy family?

How many of the Hippocrates that attended were filmed sound asleep?

I do believe Thomas Euteneuer has a title and it’s Reverend or Father. Why is that not stated in the article? It’s as valid a title as Doctor or Senator.

Routinely at the celebration of mass the congregation is asked to pray for deceased members of the community. At the service I attended the congregation was not asked to pray for Kennedy.

“By publicizing Teddy’s letter to the Pope it seems the Church sought to excuse his bad acts because he did some things the Church considers good acts.”

But, the Vatican never sent condolences to the American government on the passing of Kennedy. In sendding the letter to the Pope it appeared Kennedy had a guilty conscience and was asking for intercession and prayers for his meeting with St. Peter.

In Ted's letter to the Pope it appeared he had a guilty conscience and was asking for intercession and prayers for his meeting with St. Peter.

Correct.

Ted's letter seems to be a confession of sorts. He needed to reinforce his Catholic bona fides for the specific purpose of obtaining "the intercession of the church" upon his death.

Of course, Ted has to answer for Mary Jo, and the 40 million lives he indirectly ended through his support for abortion. That judgement is left to God......not the church.

=========================================

Now this is NOT a defense of Teddy. Just one respone as to why he received a Catholic burial.......and all those blessings.

According to church teachings, the blessings were for his immortal soul........not approval of the man and his deeds.

The church does not judge the man.......the church teaches that the judgement of the man is left to God.

A Catholic ceremony for the deceased is the church interceding for the soul of the deceased......it's one of the benefits of being a Catholic that the church will intercede for the soul since the deceased person cannot.

The church teaches that a soul consigned to the fires of hell forever is the worst fate to befall a person. That is why they intercede........even for the worst sinners.

The Catholic Church I was brought up in taught that we should not waste our prayers on those consigned to Hell; but rather pray for the souls in Purgatory.

Since only God can judge us, how does one know if a person is consigned to Hell or whether we should continue to pray for them? Very easy, if a person gives grave scandal and is unrepentant or renounces his faith, don’t waste your prayers.
