Report: Players(University of Michigan) allege rules were broken

DETROIT -- Several Michigan football players claim the program regularly violates NCAA rules limiting how much time they can spend on training and practice sessions, according to a published report.

...

One former player who started for Michigan last season told ESPN Saturday night that the report was accurate.

The player, who asked not to be identified for fear of repercussions from fans, said in-season Sundays at the football facility lasted from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., including a one-hour lunch. That would be an 11-hour day. The NCAA daily limit is four hours, the weekly limit 20.

The same player said required offseason workouts included three-hour lifts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and two hours of speed and agility on Tuesdays and Thursday. That's a total of 13 hours; the NCAA limit is eight hours of required workouts.

This player said he would tell the Big Ten or NCAA what players were required to do and believes most of his former teammates would, as well.

The best time of the year is here - college football.

Here UM football makes a feeble attempt to match up with the basketball program.

I am ready to tailgate!!!!!

You can’t spell SCUM without “SC” and “UM”.

You mean the University of Miami? On that I agree, wholeheartedly.

Boo-hoo! Somebody didn’t get to play or get as much time as they want, so now they have a hard-on for their coaches.

Well Michigan hired this guy who seems a bit shady so they could get a spread offense to compete against what they were losing to. As an OSU fan you might think I was jumping for joy last year with Mich losing to OSU 42-7. But actually I had empathy for them. I hope they can get back to the top 10.

I can’t believe that a college sports program would try to get around the NCAA rules. Just can’t believe that they would. Not possible. Couldn’t happen. No way.

And what about those 150 self reported recruiting violations your beloved sucknuts called into the NCAA?

Btw, I hear Mike Adams is going to start against Navy and USC. Good for him. I hear he’s really measured up to his 5 star rating out of high school!

Most schools work their way around the time limitations the NCAA imposed by making the excess practices, weight Room time and class time “voluntary”. They hand out the assignments, send trainers or grad asst. in to supervise.
What ever sport it is 20 hours a week is almost absurd.

I am very familiar with Swimming and 20 hours a week for a National level swimmer is a joke. Hell they do 18 to 20 every week before breakfast. Stick weight room and afternoon practice in and you're at 40 hours.

Spot on about Rich Rod.Reminds me of a bad used car salesman. It was actually kinda sad to watch “The Game” last year. I have HATED Michigan football all my life, however I have always respected their program. I sure they will back to their winning ways one way or another. Just don't believe RR the right guy. We need our arc nemeses to be great, so the victory is even sweeter!

6 days ‘til the opener with Navy. WHOO WHOO GO BUCKS!

Per the Ozone yesterday: Adams fell out of contention for the starting left tackle spot during fall camp and ultimately found himself sharing time on the third-team offensive line with freshman Sam Longo.
When I read this this morning, I was really disapointed. I believe the starter will be Andrew Miller at LT.

How quaint of the NCAA to have rules in place to protect the players! What a bunch of fuddie-duddies.

I wouldnt trust Rodriguez. 20 players defect after Carr leaves. Even though he kicked a player off the team, one of his guys was in an alleged drug deal. Pac-Man and Chris Henry were recruited by him to West Virginia, and they both have serious issues.

Rodriguez may not be a criminal, but he doesnt mind having them around if they can help him win. How else is he gonna recruit some of the top athletes to West Virginia, when Va Tech, Penn State, Tennessee, and Ohio State all border him?
