Ontario, Wayne County)- State Police in Wayne County arrested three men Saturday after reports of gun shots heard near the Ginna nuclear power plant in the town of Ontario.
Police say the shots were fired on Ontario Center road around 4:50 a.m.
Troopers say they stopped a car in the area and found an AK-47 rifle in the trunk.

A commercial Nuke has way too much concrete and steel for any simple weapon to do more than a scratch!

Wayne County.
A few years ago they had a program on the History Channel showing the Japanese government testing the strength of their nuclear reactors. They took an F-16, attached it to a track on the ground, brought it up to full power, and slammed it into a concrete wall made to the specs of the reactor. The jet was pulverized and the concrete didn’t even have a crack in it.

It would likely take many hits in the same spot from an RPG to breach the reactor building.
That said, you could do lots of damage with even with an AK, or a .22 for that matter, to the electrical stuff outside the plant, enough to take it off line. But of course you could do the same thing to a nonnuclear plant, or just the main power lines out the countryside.
Are they going to arrest every one with a rifle from within several hundred yards of a transmission line? Rhetorical question, I'm sure they'd like to do just that.
Very familiar with such designs! In fact, San Onofre Units 2 & 3 are designed to the most stringent seismic criteria in the world. They have more concrete that Hoover Dam! A Fact! I used to say if/when Kalifornia is hit with a Big 'ol earthquake, I'm personally heading for the bowels of San Onofre! :-)
