Why the 'O'-ministration will implode in weeks
Townhall.com ^ | 8-29-2009 | Kevin McCullough

Never has an administration who had more firepower at their disposal, been set to so totally fail in the next six to eight weeks. It is nearly a foregone conclusion. It is nearly unavoidable. And it defies all logic given the sizable majority the administration has in both houses of Congress.

Since I was the first pundit to predict Obama's presidency (Dec 2006) it behooves me to tell you the course I believe the next few weeks will take and effectively halt the radical transformation that the left appeared unstoppable with only months ago.

1. Health Care's long and painful death.

Barring the existing possibility that the Democrats cram a reform bill down the throats of actively protesting Americans through an ultra-partisan process that would shut out conservatives and Republicans from even being allowed to contribute to the discussion, health care reform is dead. It actually died a good while back when the President decided to pivot and create a new issue that no one had been discussing--health insurance reform. The American people will want to know why we should spend $4 billion to cover everyone in America "efficiently," when we already do so with inefficiencies like people using the emergency room as their general practitioner for $2.5 billion. Deep thinkers on the issue want to know why the President hasn't entertained one item of tort reform--protecting his friends, the trial lawyers--yet is willing to claim that doctors are eager to lop off feet, tonsils, and foreskin just to make a buck.

2. Cap & Trade will be the largest tax increase in American history.

With the 2010 election cycle just around the corner, campaign ads are not far off from being drafted. With Cap & Trade still sitting in legislative limbo, with the President's own advisor--Warren Buffet--now opposing it openly on media, with the 9.12 project in the works in which the largest gathering of anti-tax Americans from the left, right, and middle will be coming to Washington DC on September 12, and with blue dogs getting absolutely hammered in their home districts supporting it, the chance of single-party ram through victory on the matter is not wise. Cap & Trade, if passed, will contribute to unemployment, Wall Street stop and starts, and ultimately reduced treasury revenues. It would serve as the single largest tax increase on the average American in all of American history. Even President Obama admitted as much, predicting that electric bill prices, in his words, would, "skyrocket." Those that have looked at the specifics tell us that the average utility bill in America will go from $167 to $307 per month, per family.

3. Unemployment to remain high.

Now several Washington organizations from left and right, and one of note consisting of both--the Congressional Budget Office, predicts that unemployment will not shrink from the predicted "Obama high" of 8%. Instead, nearly without fail, economists are predicting unemployment at or over 10% for up to the next 24 months. That is nearly 250% the increase in unemployment under Bush for nearly the duration of his two-term presidency. If people were working, higher taxes and possible new health care entitlements could be considered, but without them working it is political suicide for Democrats to even think of it.

4. Obama's integrity tarnished in August.

Not a great deal has been made of the whoppers that the President has been spewing while the Federal Government has been in recess, but it is worth noting that many more people than I had previously realized have notice the President "exaggerating" badly in his talks on health care. For instance confusing he actual $500 physicians get to amputate a foot as opposed to the $50,000 that he claimed they got. He has shown an utter disregard for the reputation of those he talks about, the "facts" he uses to make his argument, and is highly overly optimistic about the results of his policies. Long story short, at the beginning of the summer Americans mostly trusted him, his passion index was at +10, he heads into the fall at -14.

5. A $3 trillion dollar budget.

New spending for this and that sure added up. And that brings me to number 6.

6. A coming middle class tax hike.

They will hem and haw. There will be an official, and ever arrogant Robert Gibbs explanation from the White House Press room as to why they must to do this to be "good stewards" and to be a "responsible administration" that, "pays as it goes." But the truth is, in order to pay for everything they've promised and budgeted for, a tax is looming for small businesses and working families that President Obama promised would never come. And as an aside, he was going to break that promise all along. Because the minute the "Bush tax relief" runs out in 2010, middle class taxes would be going up in an "Obama administration." Hence fundamentally Obama's "not a single dime" pledge on the campaign trail was bollocks start to finish.

Of course the President, the Democrats, the left, and Congressional leadership could surprise me. They could show up in September and endorse the Coburn health care bill in the U.S. Senate and swipe the credit for it. They could show up next week and fight with all their might to not allow the tax rates to skyrocket in 2010. They could decide to scrap Cap & Trade and re-think the use of public money for true job-based economic stimulation.

But I'm not holding my breath, and I'd advise you against it as well.

They've awakened the American worker, the American small-business owner, and the American voter.

All three of which are now wondering aloud, "What on earth have we done?"

I agree, the number of people I know that just bury their heads in the sand and ignore all of this and like you mentioned appear to be “in a trance” just amazes me. Thank God some of us are trying and yes it is going to get much worse and very soon.

Coupled with this is a fair number of Americans, particularly younger Americans, who have absolutely no sense of history. They don't know what a Marxist is. Therefore, they didn't recognize what they were voting for. Most have no real concept of economics or mathematics, either. So, the concept of debt and deficits is also foreign to them. It's a very, very bad combination and one that Obamalamadingdong is exploiting to the fullest extent possible.....

I was telling someone this exact same thing the other day. The biggest problem facing America today is the relaxation of a recognized standard. That used to be a morale code the majority of Americans adhered too.

You can not take the "Creator" who created and codifies right from wrong and throw that out and expect to be America. This is how the left is taking over, by systematical substituting GOV'T over the Creator. The whole point of America was to insure man has responsibility to pursue happiness, and not for gov't to GIVE it to him!!

However, inherently people recognize FREEDOM/LIBERTY and will ultimately understand the left's agenda squelches both.

This is what they said they will do AND I think they will go for it.

We are a bankrupt country. But, one with nukes, thus, a powerful nation. ZerO has already started dismantling that. When that happens, we will be a starving nation. And, that will be OK, because, we will not be able to use more than our fare share of resources and will reduce our carbon foot print and population.

I agree, When They realize the jig is up and the people are on the edge of revolt they are going to clamp down hard and take control whether the people want it or not. Forget voting our way out of this mess. They will throw off the pretense of being a legal governing authority and will show their teeth!

Let him do it. What's he going to do, declare martial law? That'll go over well with his base, when their Beemers get stopped by .50 cal armed National Guard units for being out on the street at five minutes past eight PM.

The Dems are overplaying their hand, badly. Let them show themselves for the demi-tyrants that they are. And let it be clear to even the most obtuse, slow-learner American that the media from which they naively expect impartiality, is effectively the propaganda arm of the DNC.

They will do just exactly that.

They see themselves as immune to future retribution, since they see the public as completely brain dead. In fact, they joke about it amongst themselves. They know that in a week or so, the public won't even remember that there ever was such a bill passed.

The media will see to it a “Swine Flu” crisis, or massive Hurricane, or celebrity funeral (Teddy) will take all the attention. And then there is FOOTBALL and GOLF, etc,,,.

And the whole while the Democrats have circumvented the core of the Constitution and passed all their legislation without a peep from the general Lemming Public. In fact, most of them won't even know that it has happened or care.

[It will take more than standard protests and the ballot box to stop the Obama remaking of America. There needs to be massive demonstrations starting with the 9/12 project march on Washington and assertions of state primacy in most domestic affairs, just to start. Beyond that, the course is not clear, but it is perilous.]

These pro Obamanation politicians are way over the line and gone. Their radical marxist agenda is a looming tragedy that only the foolish, arrogant and astoundingly ignorant left could believe.
This leftist administration is destroying our country while we watch.

Is there a sarcasm tag missing on this? I think most here believe the carbon footprint and population arguments of the left are fallacious.

And resources should be applied where they are needed and not simply divided up into equal piles for some abstract notion of "fairness." The free market should figure out the value of and how to distribute the world's resources, not a centralized governmental edict, at least IMO.

“What’s he going to do, declare martial law?”

With the right “crisis” martial law is not out of the realm of plausability is it?

What you fail to understand is, the majority of the public now live in large cities. They are easily controlled and threatened. They will gladly accept what ever the Government says so long as they are able to keep their TV sets, have electricity and flush toilets without being inconvenienced in any way.

To get them back in line quickly, all that needs to be done is the electricity shut off for a few days and Marshall law declared and check points set up on all major roads. They will be begging for their lives back and do what ever the Government says.

I guarantee it.

And the net effect would be to knock the Left's political machine back for a generation or more. It would be blindingly obvious to pretty much everybody who hasn't yet realized it, that the left is all about power and money and devolving the Republic as a whole to third-world status.

Short-term pain, long-term gain. They'd be making an enormous mistake.

A good portion of the American people are completely taken over by marketing. Obama used infomercials to get elected and he’s still doing them. People sit there and stare at him and what he’s saying and after about two minutes are in a trance. They don’t actually hear what he’s saying. Further, they never bother to look past the sales receipt (vote).

Yes, Obama did a spectacular job marketing himself (or rather his handlers did). However, he also had nearly the whole MSM cheering him on (and still does). In the last election cycle, the Press did not do its job—period. They let Obama get away with some real whoppers. The one that sticks in my mind is his promise go through the budget “line by line” to eliminate waste. Anyone who knows anything about Government knows that the President has no line item veto and no power to do that. Unless he holds up the whole bill with a veto threat (something Obama will NEVER do), it is a laughable proposition. No one in the MSM called him on it. His mythical ability to “reach across the aisle” had zero substance to it. From the beginning, the man was all image and no substance.

Aside from cheerleading, the other thing the MSM did for Obama was sell McCain to the GOP in the primaries. McCain’s candidacy was just about dead in the summer of 2007, but the MSM brought him back to life. In reality, the MSM had been saving McCain for just such a moment. They knew what a poor candidate he was and that he would implode in the general election. They never really got to his temper issue, but that would have come out of the closet had the election been closer.

Bottom line — I really hope that the Public is awakening to the fact that the MSM just hasn’t done its job. They wagered all their credibility on Obama and I hope they lose, big time.

......the Press did not do its job—........

That statement means you misunderstand the press. The task of the press was to propagandize America and elect Obama.

The press is an appendage, a tool, an organ of the Democrat National Committee.

The Democrat party is a Criminal enterprise. It is not 1954
