CONCORD, Calif. — A young woman walked into a California police station and announced that she was Jaycee Lee Dugard — a girl who was snatched by an abductor from a Lake Tahoe-area school bus stop in 1991, authorities said Thursday.
The woman came into the Concord police station and said she was the missing child, said Lt. Les Lovell of the El Dorado Sheriff's Department.
"We're 99 percent sure it's her," Lovell said. He said DNA tests were being conducted. It was not immediately clear when she came to the station.
Lovell said Concord police did an investigation after the woman surfaced, and he received a call Wednesday from investigators who tentatively identified her as Dugard.

Who should the parents of my best friend have sued when she was attacked at a bus stop (1976)? The City of New York, or the Catholic school we attended? We used city transportation, not school district transportation, just like our friends who attended public school.
you could alleviate your own provocative curiousity if you merely thought about it a bit.
It says in the article and some others that she was kept in a building in the backyard and also has children. She could have either been locked up, held hostage by her children from this monster, or both. I find it unseemly that anyone would be posting about “fishiness” without knowing the facts. Thank goodness she is finally free of that disgusting pig and his horrible wife.
Thank you for taking up for this poor woman. I am sorry that you had to experience such a horrid thing. These monsters need to be disposed of... permanently.

Don’t really want to. And he’s not been convicted of anything yet so he’s presumed innocent.
But unless the alleged nutso posts are actually older than the date she escaped from him - likely they’re nothing but a deliberate ploy by a guy who knows he’s up a creek, and he’s trying to manufacture a paddle.
IMHO.
I therefore don't see any comparison with a public school designating an area, presumably used for no other similar purpose, to be a place where children will gather and wait, twice a day, day in and day out -- children that otherwise would have no reason to be there, were it not mandated by the school district.
So I don't know who your friends should sue. Maybe they should speak to an attorney.
I believe there was a confession. So the lofty ideal-talk is ringing pretty hollow.

In NYC the kids attending public school used the same bus stops as the kids attending private school. A bus stop was a bus stop -— who is liable for the safety of any child at any of those compulsory stops?
