Inspired by Saul Alinsky, FCC 'Diversity' Chief Calls for ‘Confrontational Movement’ to Give Public Broadcasting Dominant Role in Communications Wednesday, August 26, 2009 By Matt Cover

(CNSNews.com) – Mark Lloyd, chief diversity officer of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), called for a “confrontational movement” to combat what he claimed was control of the media by international corporations and to re-establish the regulatory power of government through robust public broadcasting and a more powerful FCC.

Lloyd expressed his regulatory call to arms in his 2006 book, “Prologue to a Farce: Communications and Democracy in America” (University of Illinois Press).

In the book, Lloyd also said that public broadcasting should be funded through new license fees charged to the nation’s private radio and television broadcasters, and that new regulatory fees should be used to fund eight new regional FCC offices.

These offices would be responsible for monitoring political advertising and commentary, children’s educational programs, number of commercials, and content ratings of the programs.

Frequently referencing one of his heroes, left-wing activist Saul Alinsky, Lloyd claims in his book that the history of American communications policy has been one of continued corporate control of every form of communication from the telegraph to the Internet.

This is in fact an end run around the Fairness Doctrine, which liberals know would never pass through Congress.

Instead, Obama uses yet another "czar" - an Executive branch officer within the FCC accountable to no one except him. His purpose is to promote a "local control" policy whose primary impact would be to regulate programming to insure it focused on “diverse" views and government activities in the "public interest". In essence, private broadcasters would be taxed in order to support their governmental competitors - just like the "public option" in Obama's health care plan!

Among the many examples of incipient Fascism we have witnessed from this Administration, this is perhaps the most dangerous, and in my view, the most likely to incite something more than simple protest.

This sort of tyranny has been on the globalist agenda a long time.

They are now so brazenly confident they can’t be stopped, it’s surfacing all over the place.

They'll never call it the “fairness doctrine” just as there aren't any “death panels” mentioned by name in the obamacare monstrosity, but it doesn't matter what they do or don't call it, the effect is the same. And they don't call themselves “domestic enemies” either, but they sure look like it from here.

>The march toward implementing the fairness doctrine and suppressing the First Amendment begins.<

yep, they don’t like protesters against their agenda like tea party goers, but what they like less is them getting attention.

Anything to stop it has to be top in their priority. Only government sponsored and approved media will be tolerated by Obama ... hes a socialist / fascist

So the idiot liberals want to start a fight over the First Amendment? I’ll see any confrontational movement they want to dish out... through my open sights.

I believe we’ll see after the 2010 election whether the ballot box has been so severely corrupted that it’s no longer a viable box of liberty.

Sort of like INGSOC in George Orwell's 1984

The Five Boxes of Liberty

The Moving Box—right of association, in particular territorially via migration
The Soap Box—right of free speech
The Ballot Box—right to a voice in your government
The Jury Box—right to a trial by jury of your peers
The Ammunition Box—right to threaten or use appropriate violence in self-defense

They're being closed, one by one.

I think the groundswell of peaceful revolt by otherwise un-involved people is what makes me believe we are turning this around.

Encouraging as it is, it's too early to tell. In fact, it's always too early, as "no cause is truly won because no cause is truly lost."

If nothing else, this is one terrific test of "the American experiment."

I am confident the founders and all patriots and soldiers have prayed that we pass that test.

But the cost is probably going to be far outside the reach of most people.

What is a “diversity chief”? I really hope I’m not paying taxes to fund this man’s salary and his nonsensical opinions.

These are dangerous idea from the far left. The federal government already has too much influence over the news media and this man wants to give the FCC more power over the media. The GOP has got to retake the House in 2010 to stop this radical craziness.
