What's the saying? Oh yeah - if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.

Not fond of this man, politically, personally, or spiritually.

yeah chris dodd was the other half, robt. i don’t presume to know the state of his soul at the end, but as soon as xshub told me that he had passed when i woke up this AM, my first thought was that his judgment day is finally here.

As Churchill is said to have remarked on hearing of Stanley Baldwin’s death, “Embalm, cremate, bury at sea. Take to chances.”

I hope He forgives me if I have been judgmental in the Biblical, New Testament sense of the word.

I’m human. I’m weak. I want the scumbag to be punished. But if that view of him is completely flawed and Teddy “The Swimmer” Kennedy has actually been a saint-of-a-guy, then I’m going to need forgiveness for my hostility of him.

Why do you care what that part of my point was about?

He leaves a legacy of cowardice, anti-Americanism, socialism, and support for baby-killing.

He was and is a stain on this Great Republic.

I have nothing positive to say too. But I feel no happiness that he is gone either. I wish he had repented of his many evil ways. But that’s all water under the bridge.

That having been said, this will be a test of character and leadership for Sean Cardinal O'Malley. Kennedy's public career does not merit a celebratory funeral. Even the death of a good and pious man ought not trigger a celebratory funeral much less the death of this man.

You are right. However, we can expect a large and very public funeral because Ted Kennedy was a 'luminary' in the eyes of the media, and "they" will devote days in eulogy to their hero.

That said, thank you, Black Elk, for your witness to the Catholic faith that continually asks God's mercy on all who die.

Indeed.

We have no idea if Senator Kennedy had a deathbed re-conversion. We cannot judge.

It is quite possible that this could be an interesting election.

Coupe de Ville is already making noises like he'd be open to the State Legislature changing the law BACK to what it used to be. In 2004, When Mitt was Governor, Teddy the Swimmer convinced the Legislature to remove from the Governor the ability to choose a replacement, cause they all expected John Effin Kerry to win the Presidency.

I'd like to see Mitt run for the seat, again. He's got plenty of name recognition here in MA, so he'd have a head start, and he can offer the business and finance knowledge that most of the other 99 Senators clearly LACK! This may count for a lot this time, even in MA.

SOME Republican needs to file for the campaign IMMEDIATELY to head off the State Legislature changing their minds again.

If he DID have a deathbed conversion, I believe he’s still gonna have to spend a LONG time in Purgatory to account for all the evil he perpetrated while here on this Earth.

Yeah, that’s why my first thought was, I hope, for Teddy’s sake, that God is as merciful as we believe.

I heard too....but talk about “stealing an election”, this would be the ultimate.
