What's up with the Freepathon

Ok, this Freepathon, like the Energizer Bunny, just keeps going on and on. What's up with that ?

So here are a few reasons why this is so and I'm curious to what the problem is. Please chime in if any apply to you.

1) The economy stinks and so does my finances.

2) I got banned too many times.

2a) People who I want banned, did not get banned.

3) There are too many people who disagree with me on this forum.

4) There are too many annoying people on this forum.

5) I've been called "rino" too many times.

6) There are too many "rinos" on the forum.

7) When I make a tiny mistake, people jump down my throat.

8) Other (please specify)

Thank you for upping your monthly. I keep saying that if 80,000 Freepers donated one dollar a month, it would more than keep the lights on. I don’t know why that doesn’t happen.

I became a monthly for one basic reason!

Freerepublic needs to be able to count on a money base that is rock solid.

The more monthlies, the more solid the base.

Monthlies are the ground solid donators who allow all others to give what they can in good times and bad!

After re-reading my post it sounded snarky and demeaning to me.

Please let me try to explain it better.

For those of you in financial hard..times will improve, in the mean time, take care of yourself first!

Monthlies aren’t a bunch of rich folks with pockets of gold, but regular folk that the hard times haven’t hit (YET).

If we all work together, we can keep FR alive.

I contribute now but may not be able to in the future...hopefully then someone else can help .

I hope this sounds less snarky.

Randy

How about, “I already chipped in, but we have a zillion and one new ‘08 and ‘09 Freepers who probably haven’t and they are posting half of the threads!”

We have over THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND Freepers signed up here, could you imagine if they all just sent a few dollars every three months?

I’m sure it’s just the economy.

staytrue — thanks for this thread. It gives me a chance to bring up an easy way to donate to FR.

I’m a monthly donor, but there was a time when I wondered how to give more, without parting with a big lump sum. I thought of the loose change I had in my pocket. (actually a little thingy purse in my bag). A few coins a week can add up to a good sum between Freepathons. Each week I would count out whatever change I had in my ‘thingie purse’—— keep a couple of dollars in change for myself, and then collect the rest — week by week. When a new Freepathon began, the total would be about $25 to $35 or usually under $3 a week. I would then send the amount by Visa to FR. I didn’t miss the change and it was a good donation for FR.

For this FReepathon, the total is 31.68, or $1.98 a week.

Sounds complicated, but it really isn’t. The important thing is that FR gains and I don’t miss the change. (What do I do with all that change? I simply put the nickles, dimes, etc in those coin exchange collectors in the supermarket, or have the Grandkiddies put them in paper holders.)

I like W VNan’s idea of just a $1 a week from all, would keep FR going without this need for endless Freepathons. I admire the patience of all those who run the Freepathons, but wouldn’t it be great if their burden was eased??!!

Yes — the site is “free” but ———. How many of us would be devastated if the site couldn’t maintain itself. My addiction continues, and if a few $$$ can feed it, then so be it! I NEED MY FR!!

Maybe this will all work out and I can contrib ute more, but I expect the next six months to be very difficult.

That's a good representation of the way I see the universe. These are dark days in my corner, but I have big plans for the future. Never give up hope and be relentlessly positive!

I contributed a small amount. But I think in many FReepers’ cases that its the combination of a bad economy and the buying of guns and survival gear.

As I said the bizarre aspect IMHO comes from the sole focus on one individual while forgetting that there are most likely others with even greater culpability.

Let's see, the man convicted of the bombing of the Pan Am flight is released from prison before he serves his term and you say, that it's bizarre that people should be outraged. Instead they should focus their attention on unknown killers in unknown places. Is that your argument?

Ok, can’t remember if I’ve donated this time, so what I’ll do is donate a little more to help make up for those who can’t this time.

Now before you all start doing cartwheels, it won’t be all that much but I know we need FR to continue so that we can defeat Pelosi and her ilk (Obama included)!!

So, excuse me while I hit the donate button.
