Backlash Against Boycott of Glenn Beck

A leftwing group’s effort to intimidate corporate advertisers on Fox News’ Glenn Beck show appears to be backfiring as it triggers a wave of support from grassroots fans rushing to defend the popular TV personality from the attacks.

Even before the liberal boycott of Glenn Beck began this summer, the bestselling author and TV host had became a ratings superstar, with his 5 p.m. cable news program pulling mega prime time viewership numbers. Beck had also become a lightning rod for liberal groups who didn’t like his anti-Obama message and his staggeringly large audience.

"I think it tells us a lot about the style of politics coming from the organized left and this White House," says Rich Noyes, research director for the conservative Media Research Council watchdog organization. "They want to be so strenuous in going after their adversaries, they have a take-no-prisoners approach. I think it would be unthinkable if conservatives, particularly those affiliated with the Bush White House, had gone after a media figure associated with one of the other networks."

I’m boycotting the advertizers who have quit advertising on Beck’s show.

And supporting those who do.

Glenn Beck is a hero...no backlash is not surprising...if the silly hate filled left would just ignore, they’d be better off.

Anyone who uses such a platform to spew such vitriol, whether Glenn Beck or anyone else, has no place on the air

Yet they are strangely silent when almost all of MSNBC hosts have said that average everyday Americans are racist just for showing up at tea parties or opposing the health care legislation.

Even worse when MSNBC and CNN both doctored and edited photos and video calling someone a white protester with racist overtones....about a black man.

They have bullied their way into thinking they can do anything they want and I think they are in shock that they actually woke up the silent majority and the silent majority is PISSED.

...the advertiser-boycott campaign launched by Color of Change, an African-American advocacy organization with close ties to the Obama White House. (Boldface added)

I strongly suspect that Marxist Obama and his political officers are behind this.

It's amazing to me how many folks on the left do not yet see that THEIR rights and freedoms are being confiscated as well.

(They will eventually, just not yet.)

I have/had Geico insurance. I wrote them a letter of complaint. This is what they sent back:

GEICO Indemnity Company

August 17, 2009

Dear Ryan xxxxxxxxx:

Thank you, first of all for your business and also for your interest in this matter.

This week we took action to move our marketing messages from the Glenn Beck show and you are wondering why.

Well you deserve an answer.

If the inflammatory nature of the comments on a program overshadows our message and causes GEICO to be drawn into a national debate, we are likely to reconsider where we place our marketing messages, which is what we did.

GEICO delivers very important messages through its major marketing campaigns: we’re saving customers’ dollars, we’re easy to do business with, we’re looking out for our policyholders. That’s what we hope the public hears and sees and focuses on.

As a company, we do not take positions on controversial issues.

As an advertiser, while a national debate on issues can be healthy and appropriate, we don’t see ourselves in the role of taking part in those debates.

Our business is auto insurance. We want to bring people value and we attempt to reach large audiences with that message.

It is of little benefit to us if a program gets so much attention that our message is drowned out.

GEICO Corporate Communications

This is what I responded with:

#1 - Glenn Beck's comments are not “inflammatory” to those who watch Glenn Beck. Those complaining don't watch Glenn Beck. You've been HAD!

#2 - If Geico does not like to be associated with anything “controversial” then you should not advertise on a news program.

I was telling a friend that the typical lefties supporting the national health care are some of the most likely who will be a victim of rationing. Especially, if the rationing is based on “your actions caused this”. i.e. overeating, smoking, homosexual or promiscuous sexual activity, drug use, etc.

Methinks the real impetus for this has nothing to do with Glenn calling Obama a racist. What Color of Change is really bent out of shape about is the impact Glenn’s been having on the criminal enterprise known as ACORN.

"It's preposterous and absurd," Rucker tells Newsmax of Beck's utterance. "It's insulting to black Americans; and it corrupts honest debate.

LOL, what honest debate?

Yep...we were quiet so long, they mistook that for we were not listening or paying attention to their bulling and blackmailing ways.

I guess they just heard of the 'straw that broke the camel's back'...and I'm not exactly sure which of the few thousand 'straws' they threw onto our backs these last few years was the final 'straw breaker'...I'm just glad it finally happened!

I also cancelled my GEICO insurance policy this week - went with All State. Cost me $50 more per year for the same coverage, but its money well spent.

I wonder of “Colors of Change” realizes how much they increased Beck’s popularity?

Aren’t they stupid? Liberals are ruled by negative emotions (anger & hate)or they would see how their own ruin may come from such short sighted, irrational behavior.
