During the 2008 election there were tons of polls showing Obama down and it really confused me too on election night seeing the results come in.
But you have to take into account the dead voters, felons, illegals.. and people voting 4 and 5 times.

I can only draw the conclusion that he is living in an alternate reality where the media supported Sarah Palin and wrote him off. How the media descending on palin and trying to destroy her translates into the media writing him off, I dunno.

That's right. When they were new and seemed invincible they had a window in which they might have gotten away with it. But if they try that garbage now it will rightly be seen as silencing opposition when it is clear the administration is the one failing and in the wrong.
The political window of opportunity on this one is closed firmly and a revolt would erupt if they tried to pry it open right now.
Oh, that's an easy one. He'll say he inherited negative perceptions of the Presidential office, and that the Bush presidency was so bad that not even HE can turn things around quickly enough for the public.
