I see how bad it is after a month or more. As I was watering last night, I thought of you all. That has to be awful. I so hope you get a long period of steady rain.

We are actually seeing 100 yr old native oaks dying at the farm. We saw five or six that had died within the past few weeks. There is no grass for livestock in the pastures.
Here in our area, the juniper (mountain cedar) is dying. Actually, that is a good thing. They use large amounts of water, and have a lot of nasty pollen in winter.

I haven't been to icanhascheezburger for a while, and then started looking again a couple of nights ago when I heard it mentioned on a TV show.

I love stories about working dogs! I’m a civilian, but I’m currently working on getting my German Shepherd titled at Schutzund I.
These dogs (German Shepherds and the Belgian Malinois) are really, really special and have abilities that no other dogs have. They may not be the strongest dog or the fastest dog or whatever. But no other dog is as good at EVERY category as the German Shepherd. Period. Intelligence, Speed, Strength, Tracking, Protection, Obedience, etc. No other dog has that combination of strengths.
I love what the military is doing with these guys. And let’s face it, they are there to protect our soldiers and make their jobs easier.

The only good thing is the allergy mountain cedars. Curious, do you know, are they different than the cedars we have here? I’ve been planting Cedars/Juniper and hope I’m not planting a major allergy issue for us.
It’s awful to hear livestock in the pastures, they have no grass for them. 100 Year oaks dying and more. Prayers for rain.

I keep meaning to ask. Did you feel the earthquake the other day? When I first heard I was so worried about you. Then relieved to hear it was a bad one.
