Series of Blasts in Baghdad Kill 50, Injure 300
Fox News ^ | August 10, 2009

A series of explosions struck the Iraqi capital Wednesday, targeting primarily government and commercial buildings, killing at least 50 people and wounding more than 300 others, Iraqi police told Reuters.

The blasts follow a string of attacks in Iraq this month that have claimed more than 200 lives and left hundreds more wounded, raising concerns about the abilities of Iraqi security forces to keep the lid on violence in advance of the American withdrawal.

The seemingly coordinated car bomb blasts and mortar attacks began around midmorning Wednesday, striking first near the Finance Ministry in northern Baghdad and then minutes later by the Foreign Ministry near the Green Zone.

The deadliest explosion occurred near the Foreign Ministry, just outside Baghdad's heavily protected Green Zone, killing at least seven and wounding at least 55 people, an Iraqi police and medical official said.

A 10-story building that is part of the ministry complex was badly damaged. The explosion was so strong that it also damaged nearby buildings and destroyed dozens of car outside, according to AP Television News footage. A huge area outside the ministry was covered by debris and broken glass.

All bow to Zero, the undoing of Iraq. All for nothing. Nothing.
Pray for our Troops.

The London Times is now reporting:

The centre of Baghdad was rocked by seven near-simultaneous explosions this morning, killing an estimated 100 people and wounding 250 more.

In the deadliest attack in Iraq this year, and the most audacious one in the capital for a long time, mortar fire and car bombs were directed towards the main centres of power. Among the targets were the ministries of finance, foreign affairs, health and housing, as well as the Parliament building and the Cabinet building.

Also hit was a checkpoint on the approach roads to the fortified Green Zone. The largest explosion was across the street from the Foreign Ministry and is said to have killed 59 people. The combined total of dead and wounded is said to be 350.

I pray for their safety, and also for their state of mind. All that sacrifice and suffering, and King Zero is simply throwing it away.

I do NOT understand why the military, seeing, knowing, what a reckless idiot omama is, don’t step up to the plate for the guys taking the flak. I know the commanders in Iraq have complained bitterly to no avail, but McChrystal in Afghanistan seems determined to put the safety of our troops far, far behind “sensitivity” towards the b@st@rds that are bent on murdering us. He should be court martialled for his malfeasance.
Where is Petraeus? WHERE is ANYONE with some backbone that will stand up to this, this, ......I can’t say it here.

God save the troops and all the innocents.

If a lot of stuff starts blowing up now maybe the plebiscite will go towards keeping us there, although it will still be more violent than if zer0 had any tiny percentage of sense in his body.

I sure hope my son calls or emails today. He’s stationed at Camp Sather in Iraq. I don’t know how close that is to all of this crap today. Frustrated.

I would add that credit should be given to the previous occupant of the White House who went into Iraq to settle a score with Saddam Hussein.

Of course you would. All Bush bashers still believe that.

I believe they are asking the US to stay.

The easiest way to get the US troops out of Iraq is to stop fighting, Then we will gladly move out. Yet they keep killing.I believe they want us to stay.

“killing at least 50 people and wounding more than 300 others,”

To the American Left and the Media, this was only something to be concerned about while REPUBLICANS were in charge.

Now that DEMOCRATS are in charge, this is just a trfling matter they will somehow forget to cover in the same way they did under BUSH.

It makes me sick to my stomach to see this.

Kind of like child psychology? Negative attention behavior?

As for Bush bashing I liked George even tho he went all wobbly on social issues and spent us into a corner with the Iraq war after having his brain hijacked by the neo-cons.

His economic policies were pretty flakey too but I believe he did what Dad and Cheney told him to do. A classic people pleaser couldn't say no to anything.
