Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey is organizing a march on Washington against the Obama administrations healthcare plan that he hopes will finally finish off the Democratic push for socialized medicine.
The march, organized by Armeys political group FreedomWorks, is scheduled for Sept. 12 and is already generating hundreds of thousands of responses, the Texas Republican tells Newsmax.TV. The group is isnt providing transportation, but that doesnt seem to be a problem.

Armey’s group will represent 1% (maybe) of the people marching, but to the press they will be 99%.
And yes they will be portrayed as astroturf.
The more people we have on board for this, the better. There is strength in numbers. The ‘Rats know this, and turn out the crowds. I don’t think it is wise to marginalize anyone at this point who would support our causes.
We don't necessarily need to herd the cats. We just need a lot of cats to BE there and to share the same purpose - which we do.
This is going to be HUGH. :)
Well said. Armey’s a hack.
“We don’t necessarily need to herd the cats. “
It’s counterproductive to try.
It’s like me telling my sons to stop being so loud and rambunctious.
To late. They already hung Dick Armey on this thread.
1. Condemn attempts to create any official free conservative movement/party/anything.
Were using a free market model. Is there an official entity that represents/controls the free market? No. The free market is by its very nature chaotic and uncontrolled. Any entity devised to represent/control the free market would by definition destroy it. The same is true for free conservatism. Any proposal to represent/control/standardize free conservatism will more than likely be a veiled attempt to destroy it. Condemn it as you would condemn socialism.
This same rule can be applied to the Tea Party movement. By attempting to get in front of it and coopt it, Armey is attempting to control it. Eventually, that will destroy the Tea Party movement.
How long before Armey starts touting his group as the "official" Tea Party group?
I’d just like to point out that I am not nor have I ever been a member of the Dick Armey.
There's really no point in worrying about what the media is going to do with this either.
They lie.....so they will lie about the numbers, they will lie about the purpose, and they will try to portray Army as some sort of puppet master who's controlling and financing the event (just as they've done before).
But they will fail. The American people will know better than to believe what they say about us.
Because we are not only right, but we have the might to overwhelm Washington and make the biggest noise conservatives have made in the history of this great country.
We must not divide ourselves in the process. It will only hurt us.
I am sorry but that is just a recipe for failure.
I want to be one of “us”, but I can’t. *huge pout* I think that my mom and dad might be going, though, and that is really something. (They live in AR) They were not overtly political until recently. If my dad is going, holy cow!
As Katy Abrams declared, they have awakened a sleeping giant.
I don't see any evidence that Armey is either trying to "get out in front of" or "coopt" the Tea Party movement.
September 12th events in D.C. have been planned by conservative groups for months.
If he were trying to "get out in front of" it, then he's a bit late, wouldn't you say?
It looks to me like he's on the right side of the health care issue. Why oppose his faciliating several thousand more people to be part of the 9/12 event?
It seems important that, beyond discussing here at FR, that the public knows that Dick Armey is not the Tea Party Movement.
Folks at 9/12 should see folks near Mr. Armey with signs and arrows that say he’s not the Tea Party Movement or whatever... Like it has been suggested with ACORN plants.
Is that over-the-top?
And at the very least, it would be nice to know Mr. Armey was aware that real grassroots takes exception with his claiming leadership of something he had nothing to do with.
In his right spot, which is the same as ours, that is, a concerned American, he is and should be welcome...
It seems wrong that his statement would go unchallenged everwhere except here on FR.
And good for your Dad. That old sleeping giant is rising up big time!
I don’t see any evidence that Armey is either trying to “get out in front of” or “coopt” the Tea Party movement.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Armey’s group is being credited by the MSM as being the driving force behind the Tea Parties. Where they got that idea, I don’t know. I do know Armey is making no attempt to dissuade them of that idea.
More lies being repeated from the left... and the wannabees!
...... Talk show host Laura Ingraham stated on her radio show that she spoke with Palin, who told her she was against "comprehensive immigration" reform. This view is in contrats to not only Obama and Biden, but McCain, as well. This means that she might help the GOP pick up votes from those who oppose "open borders" legislation. Ingraham: "That sells a lot more than 'my friends' and comprehensive immigration reform. And shes not for comprehensive reform, I can tell you that right now. Shes sick to death of this immigration nonsense in the United States."- Sarah, 2008
Q: Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 million undocumented immigrants? - Univision
A: "No, I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. We have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides." -Sarah, 2009
I will be there, but I wont be smiling. I already have a car full going with me. All I did was mention I was going.
Armey had nothing to do with the vast majority of Tea Parties on April 15, but the lying MSM said he financed the whole thing (all 800,000 or so of us, I guess - he must be a really rich guy).
IMO, it is counterproductive to try to discredit or destroy an ally IN THIS FIGHT just because of what the leftist media says, and the fact that Armey isn't bothering to refute them. (Why should he, anyway? Would they even report it?)
He's bringing troops to this critical battle. Don't turn them back because you don't happen to like the guy.
We need to win this.
I don’t think Armey can coopt an army, but an army can coopt him. We (the grassroots Tea Party movement) wanted a March on Washington, he had one planned at FreedomWorks and we joined it! We got our march! It’s been planned for months and we’re now fully mobilized and ready to roll. Nothing is going to stop us now!
We need a huge protest in DC to fight against Obama’s Marxist takeover of America. I’m not going to quibble over who claims credit for getting it done. Let’s just get it done! There will be plenty of time to fight amongst ourselves after we win the war.
Woo hoo!!
Rebellion is brewing!!
DONT TREAD ON US!!
