The Conservative Hand - A Manifesto for Achieving Conservative Political Goals

1. Condemn attempts to create any “official” free conservative movement/party/anything.

We’re using a free market model. Is there an official entity that represents/controls the free market? No. The free market is by its very nature chaotic and uncontrolled. Any entity devised to represent/control the free market would by definition destroy it. The same is true for free conservatism. Any proposal to represent/control/standardize free conservatism will more than likely be a veiled attempt to destroy it. Condemn it as you would condemn socialism.

This same rule can be applied to the Tea Party movement. By attempting to get in front of it and coopt it, Armey is attempting to control it. Eventually, that will destroy the Tea Party movement.

How long before Armey starts touting his group as the "official" Tea Party group?

Um... so no elected official can be a tea party supporter, or attend or support tea party goals?

I am sorry but that is just a recipe for failure.

I don't see any evidence that Armey is either trying to "get out in front of" or "coopt" the Tea Party movement.

September 12th events in D.C. have been planned by conservative groups for months.

If he were trying to "get out in front of" it, then he's a bit late, wouldn't you say?

It looks to me like he's on the right side of the health care issue. Why oppose his faciliating several thousand more people to be part of the 9/12 event?

It seems important that, beyond discussing here at FR, that the public knows that Dick Armey is not the Tea Party Movement.

Folks at 9/12 should see folks near Mr. Armey with signs and arrows that say he’s not the Tea Party Movement or whatever... Like it has been suggested with ACORN plants.

Is that over-the-top?

And at the very least, it would be nice to know Mr. Armey was aware that real grassroots takes exception with his claiming leadership of something he had nothing to do with.

In his right spot, which is the same as ours, that is, a concerned American, he is and should be welcome...

It seems wrong that his statement would go unchallenged everwhere except here on FR.

I don’t think Armey can coopt an army, but an army can coopt him. We (the grassroots Tea Party movement) wanted a March on Washington, he had one planned at FreedomWorks and we joined it! We got our march! It’s been planned for months and we’re now fully mobilized and ready to roll. Nothing is going to stop us now!

We need a huge protest in DC to fight against Obama’s Marxist takeover of America. I’m not going to quibble over who claims credit for getting it done. Let’s just get it done! There will be plenty of time to fight amongst ourselves after we win the war.

Woo hoo!!

Rebellion is brewing!!

DONT TREAD ON US!!
