Let's Dial The Town Hall Antics Back A Notch Or Two
DC Examiner ^ | 8/17/09 | Gregory Kane

Posted on 08/18/2009 4:36:33 AM PDT by steve-b

Can we ratchet down the rancor in the debate about health care reform?

It's one thing for angry citizens concerned about the federal government getting involved in health care to attend town hall meetings and give hell to elected officials. Giving hell to elected officials is something Americans need to do more often, although I'd prefer to see them turn incumbents out of office and elect candidates from parties that don't begin with the letters "D" or "R."

But it's quite another to accuse President Barack Obama of wanting to snuff our grandmamas. Or -- as one inspired but, I suspect, somewhat demented soul actually did -- hold up a sign of Obama with an Adolf Hitler-style mustache drawn across his upper lip.

Clever stuff this is not. It's called crossing the line that separates legitimate dissent and civil discourse from pathetic demagoguery and below-the-belt cheap shots. It smacks of the kind of thing some liberals did to President George W. Bush for eight years....

NO WAY. The problem has been complacency and a lack of elected officials knowing who is boss. It’s about damn time they started getting some very focal feedback.

I don’t see any tar or feathers on any congressmen yet, so I think we’re doing fine.

Exactly right. Everything is relative. Well, this is at least.

Let’s not. In fact, I say we should bang the drum even louder.

Did the colonists in 1776 dial it down a bit?

You're right! After the successes of Lexington and Concord, I seem to recall they were placated, put away their arms and stopped being an unruly mob.

But what if he actually does. Health care for people my parents age is standing in the way of his global Utopian socialist dream. I'm quite sure he would snuff as many people as necessary to get it.

That's what's behind all the stimuli money going to re-pave perfectly good roads: Dry up inventories of tar and macadam, so that when we are ready to tar them, there won't be any left.

Demanding answers to specific questions in HR3200 or proposed legislation in the Senate is hardly antics. You dial it down Kane. We’ve just begun to dial it up.

White House on town halls: 'We will punch back twice as hard' Now the talking points are 'can't we all just get along'. Stick it where the sun don't shine. This is a sure sign we are winning. Keep up the pressure.

Try getting the facts straight before pontificating from your genteel inside-the-beltway lair

I'm sure he knows the facts, but after all, he is a RAT-agandist. So why shouldn't we just go ahead and assume the worst of him?

He is lying like a steaming pile.

“Obama is guilty of many things.”

Yes, Guilty. Like some of his friends.

“Guilty as sin and free as a bird” (Ayers)

“Can we all just get along?”—Greg Kane

“No, and hell no!”—exit82

Constructive anger is our most effective tool, the Leftards know it, and they are scared of it.

As for me, I’ve listened to them rant and rave for 40 years and they were never criticized.

Well, now, the folks that pay for this whole dog and pony show are going to have their say.

This bill has been on the desks of socialist Democrats for decades. This bill would normally be argued and counterargued until it died (repeatedly).

The “rancor” is because discussion and debate have been suspended. this TYRANT teleprompter has kicked it up a notch - So we must also kick it up a notch.

The healthcare bill, in it’s entirety should be our line in the sand. Do not stand for it. When the protests at the front door stop, protest from the rooftops. Our nation, our beliefs and our history depend on it.

If it was healthcare Reform, gun law, or even a bubblegum tax - It’s being fought feverishly because of HOW it is being made into law. A president does NOT just “declare” or intimidate people into making laws. We have a process, that process works and because of HOW it works, it’s regarded as the finest in the world.

f*** obama.

Maybe we should dub this as the “Adams Threshold” to protesting. If we start seeing tar and feathers around we’ve gone too far.

Of course the Sons of Liberty didn’t listen to Adams and perhaps that might actually have been a good thing. If they had, we might not have gotten our independence.
