U.S. [Republican] Rep. Ahn 'Joseph' Cao says he's 'leaning' toward House Democrats' health plan

In a public forum defined as much by passionate declarations on abortion as by statements about health care policy intricacies, U.S. Rep. Ahn "Joseph" Cao, R-New Orleans, said Thursday that he "leans" toward supporting the House Democrats' vision of a medical system overhaul provided it won't pay for procedures to end pregnancy.

"The word is 'leaning,' " he repeated to about 150 people gathered at an Irish Channel Neighborhood Association meeting, the first of four planned public forums for Cao during the August recess.

Besides the abortion caveat, Cao further tempered his statement with his concerns about how major policy changes affect the federal budget, future deficit projections, the larger economy and Medicare recipients.

"These are issues that concern the president as well," Cao said, adding one of his many references to the complexity of the proposals and his continued struggle on a decision.

We can't ask him to act like an arrogant dictator & haughtily ignore them. He has to at least pretend to be working for them, for pete’s sake. If the shoe were on the other foot, we'd all be screaming bloody murder, and with complete justification.
+++++++++++

Unlike many Ds who are about to do JUST THAT! All they need to know is that people oppose this bill 57 to 32 nationally, and they're about to RAM it down our throats.

I agree to a point, however, I've been hearing many reps in many districts say they don't always vote the exact wishes of their districts (wow, really?), but they vote their consciences on issues (wow, that's reassuring).

Why can't this guy just do that once on this crazy monstrosity.

I like your thought about ‘at least pretend to listen.’ Right, that puts him right alongside all the other, non-listening pretend reps...so at least tow that line, in reverse, if you can't publicly tow the line.

so if you don’t campaign very hard, don’t buy a lot of ads, then you have a lot of money left over and it’s all yours.

And that’s legal? How pathetic. Why would anyone donate?

Follow Mark Twain in post 16. How refreshing it would be for a congressional member to tell his constituents the truth.

He needs to know he’s out if he votes for ir. And another repub needs to get in - that’s only done by repub support.

Give him a break guys he is running in an impossibile district
+++++++++++++

We don’t live in a time and a moment to give anyone a break. We’re close to $12 Trillion in debt - will add another trillion by year end, to run the socialist monster, and now they want another $2.5 to $3T next year...hmmm...I’m not in the ‘give him a break’ kinda mood, ya know?

If he wants to pretend with them, and then vote ‘no’, fine. But that better be what’s happening here.

This is what’s wrong with Rs, imho. They don’t know the times we live in, nor what to do about them.

We do not live in business as usual times.

The health care issue is moot. The federal government does not have the right to do anything with so-called “health care reform” in the first place.

You feel sorry for him? Screw that. He’s a POS and needs to be defeated in the next election.

And we should lean toward supporting a primary opponent. This scumbag voted FOR the Cap and Tax bill. I don’t know for sure how it happened but he got my address and sent me a fund raiser letter. Since I only give to GOPers I think some rino sold me and maybe others out. I’m livid about this guy’s record since his election. He’s no different from Cold Cash.

Are you saying that an elected representative should feel free, once his oath is out of the way,to go to Washington and not even pretend to take his consituents' wishes under consideration? Really? We may disagree with their wishes, but his constituents are Americans & they have just as much a right to representational government as we do, don't they?

I get the fund raisers for him too. He makes it sound like he is against Pelosi every step of the way. Glad I didn’t send him anything. Better to save that $$ for the Bill Russell, Allen West, and a few others.

Who should regulate health care delivery? What about doctor’s licensing, etc.?

Trust me, I’ve got plenty of fire for the Dems. But it’s also about holding the line on the R’s drift, for sure. You can’t tell me the R’s drift toward the center left, has not had something to do with the crazy position we’re all in right now.

Although blacks make up more than 60% of registered voters in the 2nd Congressional District — which covers much of New Orleans and part of neighboring Jefferson Parish — fewer than 14% showed up Saturday, according to a consulting firm that worked for Cao’s campaign. By comparison, 28% of white voters went to the polls, largely in support of the Republican. Vietnamese Americans account for less than 3% of district voters.
