U.S. [Republican] Rep. Ahn 'Joseph' Cao says he's 'leaning' toward House Democrats' health plan

If the job assignment is to go into a heavily DEM district and elect somebody who is something other than a liberal democrat ... most people on this thread would have no clue. They are “Johnny One-Notes”.

Cao has done nothing wrong. If he casts the deciding vote in favor of ObamaCare, people can justifiably complain. But that ain’t gonna happen.

And for those who want to lose the seat to the DEMS, because “we can’t win there in 2010”, who authorized them to give that seat back to the leftists who are destroying this country? Losing elections to the leftists is not a basic principal of conservatism. (I would like to see that list of all the House seats that we are supposed to forfeit to the lefties.)

What I found out since my initial comments is that Cao voted against Porkulus and against Crap and tax. That confirms what you’re saying.

I also have been saying, we need people to use nuance and communicate well (cleverly, if you will) in some of these districts - using Reagan as a successful example of how we can get centrist D and Indie votes. Anyone who doesn’t understand that, will not win in many districts in this country.

It IS about the bigger electoral picture!

We can’t on the one hand bitch about our Congressmen not listening to US but expect the one Republican in the entire country who represents a majority African-American, pro-Obama Congresional District to disregard HIS constituents.

So let’s all drop the Dem/lib hypocrisy.

I dare say if he represented a district full of thieves who wanted to steal and Murderers who wanted to kill others, you would not want him to legislate in a manner that helped them to that.

I know, I am using the absurd to make my point.

Representation cannot be done within a vacuum that ignores right and wrong.

Furthermore, right and wrong is not relative, well, maybe to a leftist it is, but to those who hold to the Judeo-Christian ethic that this country was founded upon, it is not relative.

Our leaders are to be just that, Leaders and it is surprising, to say the least, to hear a conservative like you espouse this type of position.

All kidding aside, I believe the absurdity to make your point fails. This is not a ‘moral’ issue in the sense of murder, thievery or abortion. And Cao has said his objections do relate in particular to the abortion issue. So that is not operating in a moral vacuum.

Nationalized healthcare is wrong in OUR opinion, based on our political persuasion, but it is not such as would be explicit in the Ten Commandments. It is an economic issue with extrapolated moral issues.

I.e., the question could and should properly be raised .. is it fair to take $ from a worker in the form of taxes to pay for health care for an able-bodied but unwilling non-worker? Is that thievery? We might believe it is, but others don’t. It’s a subjective response based on our own life experiences that inform each of our political philosophies.

I happen to live in a Congressional District that became Democrat in the last election, and is likely to stay in that column for some time to come :( Our new Congressman believes we have an absolute moral obligation to care for those less fortunate than ourselves (through the govt, of course). Frankly, I don’t want him exercising HIS vision of leadership and morality by voting for this monstrosity. But he will. And he won’t listen to his constituents who, by and large, will be stuck on the paying end. But, hey, he’s exercising his morality and leadership.
