I live in Irving and am extremely busy with work at the present time so I can't make the trip.

Nevertheless, I will be there in spirit.

Good luck in convincing this Libtard Idiot that he will be held accountable if he does not serve the interest of his Texas constituents over those of the Rat party bosses.

For some reason this is one of the most popular lawmakers in TX. Even College Station votes heavily for him. I think it may be the “pork” he brings home. People like those government programs at the local level.

Good old Cheat Edwards.
Wish I could be there to yell and demonstrate against this wimp. I send letters and emails to his office and get the same old standard lib talking points. I will continue to contribute to his future opponents in the next race. He is a looser who must be voted out.

By the way, he will not have a town hall meeting, only telephone conference.

And he is an Aggie.

And that's what's going to be interesting in the upcoming GOP govs primary. The Aggie Yell Leader versus the Tea Sip Cheer Leader...... Loyalties run deep in those two institutions.

I was there! Great to see citizens being involved in the political process. Over 150 people spontaneously organized to demand that Chet meet with us face to face on the issue of health care!

Will he? He is too afraid to meet with constituents. That says it all.

A group of District 17 constituents who mobilized through Facebook and other websites held a rally Monday at noon, in front of U.S.Rep Chet Edwards' Bryan office on 29th Street.

The group is hoping Edwards will change his mind and meet with voters to discuss health care at a town hall meeting.

But Edwards is saying there won't be any face to face, instead he's telling constituents to pick up the phone.

But that isn't sitting well with one group, so they promised to head to Edwards office for a peaceful, patriotic, and polite protest. During a News 3 Live Shot at noon, the protesters seemed to be all of the above.

The group was also quiet. The protesters quietly assembled just before noon , met w/ Edwards Representatives and quietly left 30 minutes later. About 150 people showed up for the event.

Edwards has said he will discuss health care through a telephone town hall.

After the protest a spokesman Rep. Chet Edwards office released the following statement:

“Congressman Edwards welcomes open, honest public debate on the important issue of health care reform.

“Unfortunately, when one of the protest leaders in Bryan was asked last week if his group would respect Congressman Edwards’ request to honor the rights of all citizens to be heard by agreeing not to disrupt a town hall, he said, “If you’re invoking rage like Arlen Specter did the other day, he (Chet Edwards) deserves to be shouted down.”

“Sadly, statements like that make it clear that the real agenda is to disrupt, not encourage, a public discussion on health care.

“In addition to numerous meetings with health care providers, business leaders and everyday citizens, Congressman Edwards intends to have a telephone town hall meeting later this month where citizens from all 12 counties can participate in a dialogue on health care.

“Congressman Edwards will carefully study any health care reform legislation before casting his vote, but he will oppose any Canadian style, single-payer plan that socializes our health care system or prevents people from keeping the quality, private health care plan of their choice.”

My mom said they were asked to sign a statement saying they were constituents and also that they were unpaid protesters.

I bet you anything they get reported as fishy.

The royalty that is our office holders are convinced they can tell us to “shove it” and keep their powerful positions with all the perks. Unfortunately, they’re right. They’ve figured out that when the wealth is spread around those whose pay is increased are going to vote for them. Then all they need are a few idiots and they win re-election. We’ve sat back and allowed this for too long. I hope it’s not too late to do something about it.
