If you watch for it, a tall black man in a low-crowned, wide-brimmed, Western-style hat fleetingly can be seen on the Sean/Greta shows entertaining the crowds as the National Tea Party Express wends its way across the fruited plain.
You have to look and listen fast as Lloyd Marcus, clutching a mike, sings his own patriotic compositions to the assembled crowds who reward his great music with cheers and waves.
Lloyd is on the bus travelling (and entertaining) with other patriots including our own Jim Robinson.
The Express will finale at the National Tea Party and Rally in D.C. next Saturday where Lloyd will perform his own song "American Tea Party Anthem" during the day.
At night, we're honored to have him entertain us at our convention banquet at the Sheraton.
Marcus' life began in a Baltimore ghetto. Today he is an entertainer, singer, artist, production designer, musical producer, speaker, selfless civic leader......and conservative!
As a youngster, Marcus' father, a fireman, instilled his work ethic into his four sons and a daughter.
The Marcus family was able to leave the projects and move into a Baltimore suburb. Marcus did odd jobs to make money as he practiced his artwork and sang in his church choir.
He served two years in the Army. He found outlets for his creativity while serving at Fort Bragg. He designed art work for Army brochures and, despite not being a Green Beret, he sang first tenor in the Green Beret Chorus.
He was later on the campaign trail, entertaining crowds all over the country on behalf of the re-election of President George W. Bush.
Lloyd and his wife live in Deltona, Florida. He was appointed to the Deltona Arts and Historical Center by the then-mayor who was impressed with his leadership in the community. Marcus is now president of the Center.
When our distinguished banquet guest is not speaking, entertaining, fund-raising for his Arts Center, song-writing, working for conservative causes and candidates, he and his wife try to get to the beach for a little R & R.
We're proud of you, Lloyd.....and we know you'll get a warm and rousing welcome from our assembled freeper banqueteers. Especially when you launch into the patriotic and uplifting songs that you've written and which come from the heart of a man who loves his country!

Perfect!
Are you saying the entire room block was filled? How many will be at the dinner?
Although it’s a little early to look at this, here is a link to the weather forecast. It’s been years since I’ve been to DC and I need some idea of what to expect for weather so I know what to pack. Saturday looks ok right now. Cance of showers at 30%.
Event To Discuss Intellectual Ammunition For Tea Party Movement
Washington, D.C., August 26, 2009The Competitive Enterprise Institute and the Ayn Rand Institute invite you to a pre-Tea Party event in Washington, D.C. on Friday, September 11 -- an Intellectual Ammunition Workshop for 9/12 Tea Party participants.
WHAT: Intellectual Ammunition Strategy Workshop
WHO: The Competitive Enterprise Institute and the Ayn Rand Institute
WHEN: Friday, September 11, 2009 12:00pm 4:00pm*
WHERE: The National Press Club Ballroom
RSVP: mminton@cei.org
Scheduled speakers include:
Tea Parties and town hall meetings held around the country this year have empowered a growing number of Americans outraged by the bail-outs, government take-overs, and taxpayer boondoggles gone rampant in Washington, D.C. Yet, too often the protestors have been dismissed as being merely anti-government, when in fact they are pro-liberty. Why are they pro-liberty? In this workshop, we will explore those reasons and explode the myth that the protests are just angry manifestations of reaction. We aim to give Tea Party attendees crucial tools to transform the political landscape and become more effective champions for liberty. Topics of discussion will include the founding ideals of America, moral arguments for defending capitalism, and strategies to fight and win the war of ideas. The event will also feature film clips and Q&A.
*Following the workshop, attendees are invited to a social Bureaucrash Happy Hour at Bullfeathers on Capitol Hill, 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
If we’re driving in from Virginia, should we meet at the march site or at the Sheraton?

I just purchased, successfully, my convention ticket for $175. My VISA card was accepted. I have a receipt. It’s 9/9. Will I still be able to get credentials etc?
I am taking the train from Newport News, VA on 9/11. I am excited about the train and the march. I am Taxed Enough Already and look forward to meeting some new friends.
Look for me, I will be the big dorky white guy.
Hi, Freeper Vor Lady is at the Sheraton right now and was wondering if any other Freepers were lurking about?
Spouse and I are here. Both of us are tired - Awake till 2AM and then up at 4:45 for the flight. At least they let us go ahead and check in.
And of all the room numbers, they gave us 911! Is that good or bad?
So what’s the deal about having to pay for internet access? I’m too cheap to spend $12 bucks per day. Are you paying, or do you work off an air card/wireless phone connection?
I’m looking for a little more info on the Walter Reed event. My daughter and I will be landing at Reagan (I love that!) at 5:40, so we probably won’t get to the Sheraton National until 6:30 or so. I can’t find the post about transportation arrangements. What’s the best way to get to Walter Reed if we miss the group?
Thanks, and I am getting so excited about this!

You have Freepmail!
I’m trying to get a ‘live at the sheraton’ thread going, but it’s not working so well. My screenname does not lend itself to serious replies.

“they gave us 911! Is that good or bad?”
I think it is cool, man. I would love to have that room number during this event. Go buy a lottery ticket and don’t forget who your FRiends are.
