In a wing-nut world, Granny is toast(Ellen Goodman three bagger)
Boston Globe ^ | 8/7/09 | Ellen Goodman

I AM AS HAPPY as anyone at signs of an economic recovery. But I confess to having mixed feelings about the resurgence of the wing-nut industry. We now have “The Birthers’’ manufacturing myths that President Obama was not born in the United States and therefore is serving illegally. They are following the business plan of those earlier entrepreneurs selling the idea that Obama had killed his grandma. Consider the scare-biz Internet scribe who penned the memorable line: “Obama flies to Hawaii to visit his grandmother and just a few days later she winds up dead. Coincidence?

Intresting to note, all the violence at the town halls so far reported has been perpetrated by Obama supporters.

"Mass. Pushes Rationing to Control Universal Healthcare Costs (RomneyCare)
A 10-member Massachusetts state healthcare advisory board unanimously recommended
that the state begin rationing healthcare to keep the state’s marquee universal health care program afloat financially.

The July 16 recommendations, the Boston Globe explained, would result in a situation where “patients could find it harder to get procedures they want but are of questionable benefit if doctors are operating within a budget.
And they might find it more difficult to get care wherever they want, if primary doctors push to keep patients within their accountable care organization.”
The Globe stressed that the recommendations would “dramatically change how doctors and hospitals are paid, essentially putting providers on a budget as a way to control exploding healthcare costs and improve the quality of care.”
"Budget" is a more politically acceptable word for rationing.
The Globe also noted that “consumer advocates said patients are going to have to be educated about the new system.” Yes, apparently they will have to get used to having their healthcare rationed.

If Ellen likes palliative care so much, is she proposing this for Ted Kennedy? Chris Dodd? Oh! No! Those people are important! They deserve the best care possible!

It's just your grandmother who is expendable. No one cares about her. She costs too much, and she's gotta go.

"I AM AS HAPPY as anyone at signs of an economic recovery."

I must have missed those signs? Can anyone point me in that direction? I'd like to seem them.

Well, Ellen knows everything I guess.

My guess is that if Obama had his way, it would be free sex-change operations and free abortions, and killing off granny and gramps to save the Social Security system and the whales.

And that was kind of a coincidence about O’s typical white granny, wasn’t it? She stayed alive just long enough for him to scoop up her paper copy of the birth certificate, but not long enough to see her little Barry elected.

Yes. Ellen was born with an third large breast between her shoulder blades.
At high school and college sock hops, young men often engaged in fist fights to slow dance with her.

It enables Granny and Grandpa and us to say how we want to die.

Funny line. Goodman is 68. From my perspective, you're granny Ellen. So have you thought about how you're going to check out, and not be a burden to me as a taxpayer? I'm ready for you to go, are you?

If Goodman had any common decency she would set herself on fire just like her stepson did.
Or, she could throw herself off a building. (Whatever, I don’t care.)

For more years than I can remember, I read the Boston Globe each and every day.
No subscription...I picked up my Globe along with my morning coffee.
One long forgotten morning, I got 1/2 way through an Ellen Goodman column, folded and tossed the paper, and have NEVER read even the headline in passing since.
When the Globe folds, she can get a job on the Havana Post.

What about we have a national popular vote on whether Ted and Chris have, on balance, done the country more harm or more good and then, if more good allow them to continue with the best health care money can buy and if more harm, they get no further health care, no meds, no doctors, no nurses, nada?

I have seen “The Obsolete Man” several times. It is one of the best Twilight Zone episodes. Burgess Meridith is good in all of the Twilight Zone episodes that he appeared in but this was his best.

If Obamacare passes, millions of elderly and disabled people will be declared obsolete and encouraged by a government end-of-life counselor to agree to assisted suicide.
