How Many Obama Voters Feel Let Down?
Pajamas Media ^ | August 4, 2009 | Jennifer Rubin

Candidate Barack Obama ran a brilliant campaign, convincing moderates and even some conservatives that he was no radical while keeping the netroot base fully engaged. But seven months after taking office, the list of disappointed voters (at least those willing to admit they were had) is growing.

Fiscal conservatives who bought the spiel that he’d go line by line through the budget have seen the most fiscally irresponsible president ever. After a $787B pork-filled stimulus, a supplemental spending measure with 9,000 earmarks, a $3.5 trillion budget, and a trillion dollar health care plan, Obama has managed to exceed the worst predictions of his critics. And now at least some of his advisors are letting on that his promise not to hike taxes on 95% of taxpayers [1] is going to be cast aside. After all, the deficit is now so huge we must plug the gap, right? (Robert Gibbs said Obama would never raise taxes on the middle class [2]– well, except for those cigarette and energy taxes.)

Then there are the good government types who fancied a new era of transparency and lobbyist-free government. Well, not quite. We have had the long list of tax cheats and the lobbyists who needed ethics waivers [3] to squeeze through the revolving door. Again and again — whether on the stimulus plan or on cap and trade — gargantuan legislation has been rushed through without public scrutiny. Well, if the public figured out what was on some of those thousands of pages, they might have objected.

There were gay voters who felt certain this contemporary president understood their concerns. Unlike all the other liberal pols he would finally deliver on gay marriage, they hoped ( after all he came out against Proposition 8 [4] in California) and repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell..."

Wonder what Buckley’s son thinks today — did he take a sabbatical because I haven’t seen any of his articles for awhile.

You know what else I must have missed this week? Rassmussen polls that were doing three day averaging. I don’t remember seeing them the last few days.

Hope Buffett has lost quite a bit of money — serve him right for supporting a socialist.

I’ve been a Democrat all my life but I am extremely disappointed in President Ubama. He operates like a communist Nazi, and I will never again vote for him. It didn’t bother me a bit when I found out about Ubama smoking crack and having homosexual relations with that fellow Larry Sinclair. Yawn, big deal. We Democrats don’t care about silly things like that. But this health care rationing plan is simply over the top. Over the top, I say.

“I know 2 Obama voters. Both are elated.

A bunch of my wife’s family members voted for him, including my in-laws. They think he’s even better than advertised.

My daughter is almost thirty and practically a Marxist. They could march us all off to camps and she would say we had it coming.

My other daughter is as conservative as you can get and the mother of my grandson. Russian roulette raising kids, ya know. My son is a right winger too, as is my stepson. So we got seventy five percent.

Great sharing. I’ve had people share with me too. I’m sort of brash and say something as I leave the checker or while I’m in the grocery line about voting conservative.

A lot of people are agreeing with me. Tow-truck driver and the shuttle driver for the car fixit place just this weekend.

I don’t care how many Dem minds are changed, I want the indy vote. If we swing that, we’ll have 2012.

"too stupid"

That's the closest to the truth. Most Dems are too ignorant to know what is going on. I'll bet a sizable percentage do not realize the controversies going on around them. Of course that's why they're Dems.

My good friend’s mother voted for him now she doesn’t like him AT ALL and watches Glenn Beck every night :)

I also have another leftist friend that I never talk politics with but healthcare came up yesterday and she really doesn’t like what’s going on with the gov’t. And she’s the landlord of the Colonial Bank bldg that was raided and she said it onl happened because the gov’t wanted to audit them. I warned her that the gov’t control is going to grow and grow unless we do something. She agreed.

"I have 2 kids in college, and during the campaign a lot of students were Oboma freaks. Not today. According to my kids, the ex-Oboma freaks are very disappointed. He's just another old guy politicians like the rest of them. They wanted change - they got enslavement. Today, it's cool to be anti-Oboma. Those who still support him are seen as real odd balls who are "Stuck on yesterday"."

By God, I hope you are right!
