Updated: 07/31/2009 06:51:56 PM PDT CHERRYLAND A Cherryland homeowner who opened a closet in her computer room after hearing noises around 4:30 a.m. Sunday was startled to find a naked boy hiding inside, police said Friday.
The frightened woman screamed and the boy ran, picking up his boxer shorts from the floor as he fled the Solana Avenue house, police said.
The boy, 12, was arrested Monday on burglary charges following an investigation in which police determined he may have broken into at least one other home nearby last week, Alameda County Sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.
When investigators told the boy they had DNA evidence and surveillance video of him fleeing the home, he admitted to breaking into houses to use computers to access porn sites, Nelson said.
The boy, who was unidentified because he is a minor, is being held in the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center. He is believed to be the same developmentally disabled boy who broke into a Hayward apartment June 30, wearing only shorts and socks, and tickled the feet of a sleeping girl, police said. At the time, Hayward police said the boy had a history of wandering into neighbors' homes. No charges were filed then.
"We do believe it was the same juvenile," Hayward police Capt. Darryl McAllister said Friday. "We have had some communication with the District Attorney's Office and we are anticipating they will be adding charges to the juvenile in association with our incident on June 30."
Investigators believe the boy entered both homes through unlocked doors.
"You have a 12-year-old kid who breaks into people's houses, sometimes when the homeowners are there, strips down, logs onto their computer, accesses Internet porn and masturbates," Nelson said. "I'm afraid that if this kid doesn't get some serious help soon, he's going to be a problem for law enforcement for a long time to come."
Apparently, the Cherryland woman had turned on the light in her computer room, opened the closet and pushed clothes aside when she bumped her hand against the boy.
"She got a pretty good look at him coming out of the closet," Nelson said.
Deputies knocked on doors Monday in Cherryland while investigating the incident, and at one of the houses they saw a boy in foster care who matched the description provided by the woman.
"We may have other victims in the Cherryland area and in the city of Hayward," he said. Anyone who believes the boy has broken into their home is urged to call authorities.
In Cherryland, call sheriff's Sgt. Raymond Kelly at 510-667-3657. In Hayward, call the Police Department at 510-293-7000. Reach Jason Sweeney at 510-293-2469.
Not sure what type of ping list covers this.
Sounds like the punk kid across the street from me.
That is one messed-up kid. There are problems that kid has that would be dam’n difficult to fix.
he might have a future as a Congressional Aide.
God bless the poor kid...somehow this is all the fault of Obama. I would feel beeter with this kid in charge than Zero.
I would venture a guess that this kid is a high probability candidate to be a rape felon as he gets older.
Yeah, Barney Frank will take him.
I’m sure there are quite a few congressmen that would love to find a naked 12yo boy in their closet.
Apparently, James Ellroy, the author, used to do something similar to this when he was young.
At least that’s his claim.
Barney Frank's fondest dream
good thing he doesn’t live on a sheep ranch...
He’s in foster care, can’t imagine what his home life was like to put him in foster care. It had to be nasty.
Blessed his poor little perverted heart. Let him masturbate all he wants, it’s good for him. Better yet, take him to Hooters for lunch let him masturbate there.
Cherry? Land?
hahahahaha
