Dear Freepers, Don't Back a Losing Argument: Just Accept the Fact Obama was born in Hawaii (Vanity)

The entire birther argument, that Obama was actually born in Kenya instead of the US, making him ineligible for holding the office of the President of the US, is a spurious argument. It plays into Obama and the liberals hands - they want this to continue since it makes regular conservatives and opponents into fringe wackos.
Not one of us would've looked harder at his legitimacy than Hilary Clinton and the entire Clinton smear machine during the Democratic primaries. That magic bullet would've given Hilary the presidency - and yet nada, bupkis.
There are many valid reasons to oppose Obama and the liberals, but his birthplace isn't one of them.

Oh, so you now you need college records and passport documentation, too. Ok. I'll take that. The guy hasn't proven anything. Briefly held office, no prior job to speak of, no military service, nothing. The guy is a blank slate.
So, ya, college records and passport would be a start to get him even with the amount of records coughed up by his peers and predecessors.

The entire birther argument, that Obama was actually born in Kenya instead of the US You opened your vanity with a falsehood, and it went down hill from there.
A) We're not "birthers." We're constitutionalists.
B) Our primary "argument" from day one has not been that he was born in Kenya. It has been that he has not proven he was born in the US, which, to be natural born as the Constitution requires to be President, he must have been, since according to our laws in 1961 his mother was not of sufficient age to transmit citizenship to a son sired by a foreign national.

If you make a claim that he has not spent that money...I need a link or a source. You failed logic in college, didn't you? :-)

I agree with most of your sentiments, but this one I disagree with:
Not one of us would've looked harder at his legitimacy than Hilary Clinton and the entire Clinton smear machine during the Democratic primaries. That magic bullet would've given Hilary the presidency - and yet nada, bupkis.
This is the same Hillary Clinton that didn't raise the Jeremiah Wright issue, at all, to my understanding. That issue wasn't raised except by Hannity and some folks at Newsmax, and it didn't 'break' into the MSM until, IIRC, Hannity came across the video, after Obama had already won Super Tuesday.
Which tells me two things:
1.) She didn't know about it.
2.) She was afraid that using it would potentially alienate black voters, either in the primaries or the general election, and didn't want to risk it.
IMO, the Wright videos could have completely sunk Obama had they come out in Oct-Nov '07, but at what cost to black support for Hillary? Black voters might have been galvanized to Obama earlier than they were, which might have been fine for Hillary had it turned Obama into 'the token black candidate,' but those same black voters might have been so galvanized against Hillary that they would have sat out the general election.
So, I think you can apply either of the above two points to the birther theory, as well. Hillary was in the position of having to beat Obama in terms of policy, or not at all, else it would have cost her key support later on.

So his being born in one of the 50 states to an American mother is not enough for you? Do you need to see his birthmarks and baby teeth, too?

“This business about ex post factoing a born citizenship seems real hokey to me. Seems that Congress could pass a law saying that anybody who had been born anywhere on this planet is an American and it would pass equal muster. Something smells.”
It’s hokey to me as well, I’m just saying that at least 4 and maybe up to 9 SCOTUS Justices would accept that.
In any case, Obama was born in Honolulu and so the case is more slam-dunk.

Please explain your position that 0bama is above the US Constitution and privileged over any other US president on this matter.

Keyes is still around? What a joke of a person he is. I guess everyone in America gets a 2nd or 14th chance to make fools of themselves. I do love when Medved impersonates Keyes in his marvin the martian voice. Alan Keyes is one of our greatest living Americans. He, unlike you, cares about the current disregard in our country for the sworn oath elected officials take to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States.

It has been that he has not proven he was born in the US Yes, he has. Unless you think the state of Hawaii is lying in their official records? Is that what you're suggesting? How far back and how wide does this conspiracy go?

“Its important to know the official self/auto-biography as a contrast to the critical biography”
Even if it was ghost-written by Ayers or whoever, it can’t be all lies. There must be something to learn from it, which was the original point of bringing it up. We do know some things about Obama (lots of them troubling, to me at least).

Lets take it as given that he appears to be guilty of all sorts of things, or has clearly acted as if he were. It was clear that the man was a dubious figure in every way from the beginning.
We all knew this. We have known it for the last 18 months. You do not need to preach it here of all places.
This has nothing to do with the issue at hand.
Does this make the pursuit of this controversy a smart political move ? No.

‘Dems will win if voters see the Republicans as the party of conspiracy theorists.’
The Dems had a conspiracy theorist named Michael Moore making movies about the evil GWB. The Dems trumpeted the ‘Bush and Cheney started wars to seize oil and make themselves and Haliburton rich’ nonsense for years. The left makes it’s living off of parroting conspiracy theories about conservatives. How did any of that hurt them Dems in ‘08?

Yes, he has. Unless you think the state of Hawaii is lying in their official records? Is that what you're suggesting? Just produce the documents. Hearsay isn't going to cut it in a matter this important. Let's see the evidence. That's all we want.

He was flown to Hawaii from Kenya when 3 days old and hasn't been naturalized as a citizen therefore he's an illegal alien that should be deported!

Produce the documents that he wasn’t born in Hawaii.
And, boy that NWO, sure were smart to announce his birth in the paper back in 1961. I bet they had a time machine, and they did it that way!
To: WOSG
he wouldnt really know. Of course he would know. He's carefully followed every legal avenue this case has taken.
