An Open Letter to President Obama Regarding the Appointment of Science Advisor John Holdren
Dear President Obama,
I note with dismay your appointment of Dr. John Holdren as Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and Co-Chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Although Dr. Holdrens experience in academia and administration may be adequate, his publicly expressed views regarding population control disqualify him from holding office.
I will set aside objections to Dr. Holdrens scientific competence. Despite his strong scientific credentials, he advanced theories in the 1970s and 1980s that have become the paradigm of ideologically motivated junk science. He and his collaborators (such as co-author Paul Ehrlich) predicted world-wide famine as a consequence of over-population by the late 20th century, and they advocated radical coercive public policies to avert catastrophe. These predictions were explicit, public, and were published under professional imprimatur. Obviously, the predictions were wrong. Dr.Holdrens predictions are an exemplar of scientific incompetence.
But it is the spectre of Dr. Holdrens competence, not his incompetence, that concerns me. In 1977 Dr. Holdren and his colleagues Paul and Anne Ehrlich published the book Ecoscience. In it, Holdren and his co-authors endorse the serious consideration of radical measures to reduce the human population, particularly third world populations, such as India, China and Africa. The measures include:
People who contribute to social deterioration (i.e. undesirables) can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized.
Women particularly women of insufficient means due to poverty, nationality, marital status, or youth could be forced to abort their children and undergo sterilization.
Implementation of a system of "involuntary birth control," in which girls at puberty would be implanted with an infertility device and only could have it removed temporarily if they received permission from the government to have a baby.
Undesirable populations could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into drinking water or in food.
Single mothers and teen mothers who managed to have their children despite measures to prevent fertility should have their babies seized from them and given away to others to raise.
A transnational Planetary Regime and a transnational police force should be assembled to enforce population control.
Although Dr. Holdren recently has asserted that he does not support coercive measures to reduce population, he has continued to champion population control science and he includes his book Ecoscience prominently on his CV, without disclaimer.
In other words, Dr. Holdren dissembles. He insists, despite the record, that he no longer believes what he 'didnt believe' then. Evidently you accept his denial. As you are, Mr. President, a man of good will, inclined to see the best in people, you may have misunderstood Dr. Holdrens ideology. It has a history that runs from early 20th century eugenics to the German T4 program to the modern population control movement and eco-fundamentalism. It is a view of man as pestilence. No one who holds that view, or has held that view, or who has publicly endorsed serious consideration of that view, should be in a position of influence in our government.
There is a deep and disturbing irony in your appointment of Dr. Holdren as Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The irony, sir, is this: Dr. Holdren endorsed the serious consideration of radical measures including involuntary sterilization and abortion to cull mankind. And he was not an equal-opportunity culler. He betrayed a particular animus to children conceived of third world parentage to young mothers of limited means. He asserted that they were a burden that we dare not bear for the sake of humanity and for the sake of the Earth. He implored us to ensure that these children were never given life.
He meant you.
Sincerely,
Michael Egnor, M.D.
Forced abortions and sterilizations. My. How enlightened. Sounds like Nazis or Communist China.
the obamanation in America is just that. A racist and hater, or as his friend said of him: One of Obama's early mentors in the Alinsky method was Mike Kruglik, who had this to say to an interviewer of The New Republic, about Obama: "He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation, who could engage a room full of recruiting targets in a rapid-fire Socratic dialogue, nudging them to admit that they were not living up to their own standards. As with the panhandler, he could be aggressive and confrontational. With probing, sometimes personal questions, he would pinpoint the source of pain in their lives, tearing down their egos just enough before dangling a carrot of hope that they could make things better." Watch Obama work a crowd at a town hall meeting. He comes out, says a few words in greeting and then begins his laundry list of all the stuff that's wrong with America, getting the audience all revved up. When the crowd is engaged and sufficiently "pissed off," Obama presents a solution to the all the things that are "pissing them off" -- the chosen one, the anointed one, the Obama -- as president. Alinsky's goal was to slowly turn the United States into a Communist dictatorship; to this end he tried to convince various groups of poor people and labor unions to push for legislation in that direction; he did this by appealing to their self-interest -- whether valid or not -- instead of using charismatic leadership -- but now we have Obama, who is skilled in the Alinsky method and charismatic.
This guy is straight out of the Third Reich...errr...the Obama Regime!
bump
Ditto that, and Beck too!
Nice post GGG, its nice to agree with you for a change :)
Dr. Joseph Mengele of the 21st century.
You must of typed all those refs in a white font, because all I see are unsourced accusations typical of a Temple of Darwin fanatic. Come to think of it, your screenname pretty much sums up all your replies so far.
Have a nice day d;op
"Dr. Holdrens experience in academia and administration may be adequate"
I met the man, albeit 30 years ago, when I applied to and was admitted to his graduate program at Berkeley.
In truth, he is not a freak. He's a brilliant writer but a committed leftist. Back then he was a scientist but he was not making his career doing real science, but pseudoscience regarding energy policy. Just another young academic trying to make a name for himself.
That said, he's dangerous. Very dangerous. He's one of those leftists who believes that we Americans should surrender our sovereignty to the United Nations and submit to a world tax. That tax would come from -- you guessed it -- the cap and trade revenues that the Obama Administration wants to subject us to.
Is he a murderous b-stard? Nah. Actually a decent guy. But back in the 1970s you could get away with talking like that. Don't forget -- it was during the 1970s that the Red Chinese promulgated their "one-child" policy to nary a complaint from the world; it was also the same time that (future Justice) Ruth Bader Ginsburg was musing out loud that Roe v Wade would achieve population control and the elimination of the "unfit." Basically, these lefties (Holdren, Ginsburg, and the Ehrichs) were still endorsing the standard -- albeit murderous -- beliefs of the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger.
By the way, Holdren was grilled mercilessly during his confirmation hearings about that book by Senator Vitter of Louisiana earlier this year. He avowed that the Government has no business dictating policy regarding population and completely disavowed the positions taken by that book. Check out this website:

Incidentally, in case you're wondering, I did not join his program at Berkeley. Went somewhere else.
You are *Dismayed*
Enough already with SOFT Politically Correct language. I guaranty this letter was Mocked then shredded along with thousands of American
Letters to Barry. IMHO..don't waste your time. Any type of negative communications of concern, will fall on deaf ears in all levels of The GUBERMINT.
PS And don’t think I’m counting that diatribe of an evo-blog as a source for anything other than the pushing of your evo-religion, because that is all it is.
You may now return to pouring milk over your Darwin idols.
Wow in typical liberal fashion you blame the messenger. whattajoke...how aptly named.
Exactly.
And I heard that Hitler liked dogs...
Thanks for the ping!
