Outside Magazine lists as a drawback that it might be get this TOO CONSERVATIVE for some people.

I f you or a CONSERVATIVE person is considering relocating, I’d invite you to tell them about this family values oasis. I’d personally suggest Northern Colorado Springs as being the best and the most conservative. And just to lay my cards on the table, I am not in the Real Estate business and make nothing off anyone moving here. I just know that Soros and others have dumped millions into Colorado and have succeeding in taking over the state government for the first time in decades recently.
The Springs loses out to Denver and Boulder in the state elections but it is still close enough to make a difference.

Falcon AFB was renamed Shriever AFB in the late 90’s and is located east of Colorado Springs. It’s home to a lot of missle and space defense type units.
Falcon AFS is where the tracking station is located east of Colorado Springs. Peterson AFB shares the runway with the airport right downtown. The Academy is north of the Springs about 10 miles out.
I guess Colorado Springs surrendered after the Air Force had them surrounded.
I was raised in Colorado Springs back when north Academy was a two-lane road (we lived in the “country” off Academy and Woodmen), and the population was less than 50,000. I live up in the Denver suburbs now. I still miss living there.
OMG (Oh my gosh) You do not want to live in Alaska - it’s horrible.
Long cold dark winters - so cold in Fairbanks you can die in just a few minutes if your car conks out in the cold.
Very expensive
And did I mention how horrible the winters are? Long and cold and dark, really dark, we don’t have street lights. Or streets, just broken bits of pavement held together with mud.
Oh snow, massive mounds of snow, so much snow your roof could collapse - or let a mosse climb up on it.
Snow you’ll shovel all day and night and never get ahead of it.
And long cold winters.

Califonia or Flordia would be a much better place to live. Even New Mexico, which really is cleaner than Old Mexico, would be the better choice.
Yes, there is a large IT presence, and it is only getting larger. Several companies are planning new offices or expansions.
My husband was listing them off for a neighbor the other day. I was surprised at the number of planned expansions.
Another nice thing is that the Denver Tech Center, which is at the south end of Denver, is under an hour from the north end of the Springs, so those jobs would be open too.

We have different water laws. Back east they have Riparian law. In the West, we have Appropriation Doctrine.
Water does not and has never belong to the landowner it falls on in the West. People from back East take for granted that there is enough water to go around. Here, it isn't and there never has been.
It's apparently difficult for people who aren't used to these laws, but water laws based on Appropriation Doctrine have been in place since the days of the gold rush (mid-1800's), and have governed water for well over 100 years.
These laws recognize that, just like land, water is not an endless resource for people who essentially live in the desert. Nothing new.
and if you have a solar panel providing power to your house and are hooked into the power grid to put unused power back into it, the power company wants to charge you a fee ......
The power company that is talking about billing solar panel owners is in Denver (Xcel). The power company in CS is not talking about doing that.
AAFAIK, there has been no increase in Denver. It is something Xcel has on their wish list.
Colorado Springs is WONDERFUL. Please, make sure you fight off any encroaching liberals...

Falcon was what Schriever is now. It was renamed 11 years ago (ish).

Huh? Um I live in CS. Many election years the Dems don’t even put up a candidate for Congress, because they don’t usually break 33% of the vote. Not sure where you’re getting your info...
You can consider it like Boulder if you only count the “residents” of Acacia Park.

Sometimes March is the worst. I have to say, though, that I love consistently cold weather, so it's not a negative for me.
I am hoping that the rain we're having now will mean that we'll have a nice snowy winter.

I think the best place to live is among the “personally conservative”, not the “politically conservative”.
Right off, don’t think of conservatives as a group, because there are a whole bunch of different kinds of conservatives.
For example, there are some “religious conservatives” who are sectarian. Generally good folks unless you talk about religion. Then there are “activist conservatives” who just adore politics. Even when nobody else wants to talk politics.
“Business conservatives” “are from business”, and while they honest and hard working, they *enjoy* work a tad too much for most tastes. Good people, but not much fun as neighbors.
So all told, it’s best to live around people who are “personally conservative”. This is because they are neighborly, don’t bring government down on the neighborhood, not much mess or fuss, and are otherwise considerate. This doesn’t mean they don’t have fun, and won’t throw the occasional party.
They might even send out Christmas cards instead of “Season’s Greetings”, and things like that. Generally pleasant to live around.

FYI...Arizona is CLOSED! (Possibly to southbound traffic only as there seems to be a steady stream going north across our southern border.)
