AP Reports 'More Than 200 Protesters' at Obama Bristol, Va. Town Hall
Wednesday, July 29, 2009 | Kristinn

Following on the hundreds who protested Barack Obama this morning in Raleigh, the Associated Press reports several hundred protesters were gathered in Bristol, Virginia as of 3:16 p.m. for the scheduled 4 p.m. Obama town hall meeting at a Kroger grocery store:

A crowd of more than 200 protesters opposed to President Obama's health care overhaul have gathered outside a Kroger supermarket in Bristol, Va., awaiting the president's arrival for a town hall meeting.

Some held signs reading, "Obamacare is political malpractice" and "Keep your hands off my health care."

The Wednesday protest drew people from the tri-state region of Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina.

The Roanoake Times reports a pro-Obama rally was organized by the leftist labor union SEIU:

A few blocks from the Kroger a group of supports shared their concerns with the current health care system and reasons why they are urging for an overhaul of the nation’s health care system.

Sponsored by the Service Employees International Union, the rally sought to emphasize the hardship health care premiums have placed on small businesses. It also highlighted the problems Virginians face in paying for prescription drugs.

The Times also reported on the anti-Obama protesters:

Protesters were also waiting for Obama’s arrival.

“We’ll be here until the president sees us,” said Katie Hughes, 18 of Kingsport, Tenn. “It makes me mad. I mean this could mean our grandparents won’t be taken care of.”

The largest group of protesters gathered outside the Kroger parking lot.

Rho Griffin and her husband Blake drove down from Roanoke to tell the president to keep his hands off their health care.

Great job tri-state tea partiers!

No.

They locked everything down. Protesters and supporters were cordoned off outside way far away from the store.

Obama was inside the store and never showed his face to us.

And there were well over 200 there. Thanks Associated Press for once again under reporting the numbers.

yes you did and you have no arguments from me

some times I don't know who I get more frustrated at.
the Dem or the GOP

My county is represented by all republicans, not one Dem and yet some of them act like big spending Dems and always want to raise taxes even though we have just voted to reduce our property tax by $300.

The GOP has two women in it Sarah and Michelle Bachman(sp) and they have more balls than the entire men in the GOP.

The amount of times I shouted at that TV when I heard McCain say you can look at my record and it speaks for itself.

Well John the media are not looking at that and this running a campaign by the gentleman's club rules did not work.

Now we have a Marxist

true
but those Dems from MA come down here and then still carry on voting for the Dems.

Why on earth do they want to come down here and then keep voting to make their new state look like the one they left.

The amount of times I have had this conversation with MA Dems who have moved down here.

Thankfully I have been able to change a couple in their voting pattern/

I was just making the poster at #26 link clickable. After making it clickable then seeing the thread I think it may be Raleigh.

Thanks for the pic from VA. Great job! “Seniors” will be defined down to at least age 55, depending upon the “savings” needed.....

Hey, Manc, I feel your pain. Not being sarcastic - OK maybe a little.

I had to escape from the socialist state of Michigan, where taxes are manna from heaven for all the idiot, fat welfare slugs living there.

Two years ago in the spring election, the so-called teachers wanted a $1 million addition to the school, a school that was new, paid for by bonds that voters approved. Property owners got outvoted by all the fat liberal female welfare pigs who were bused in by the NEA to polling stations.

This is happening all over the country. I have two solutions: abolish the 19th amendment and the second one I can’t mention.

THIS IS THE SOCIALIST HOSPITAL WORKERS UNION THUG LIAR , HUSSEIN BARAKAS POLITICAL DIRECTOR, THE GOEBBELS LIKE PROPAGANDIST WHO WRITES OBAMAS SPEECHES AND IS BEHIND THE SCENES PUSHING THE QUICK PASSAGE OF SOCIALIZED MEDICINE TO BENEFIT THE SEIU

Politicians and strategists praise Patrick Gaspard highly, although he stays away from the limelight.

"Patrick is the best political mind of his generation in New York and maybe the nation," says Kevin Sheekey, who as Michael Bloomberg's right-hand-man has frequently worked and battled with Gaspard.

"I wouldn't dispute that," said David Axelrod, Obama's chief strategist and Gaspard's cohort on the campaign trail. When reminded that such a title could be bestowed on Axelrod himself, the strategist said he was "happy to cede that" to Gaspard.

The Washington Post, among others, has announced that a longtime labor operative of Barack Obama's, Patrick Gaspard, will be named Obama's White House political director.

Gaspard served as national political director for much of Obama's general election campaign and was named deputy director of personnel for the transition effort. Prior to his work with Obama, Gaspard was the lead political operative for the 1199 branch of the Service Employees International Union, a huge and hugely influential union representing health care workers in New York. He spent the 2004 general election as the national field director for America Coming Together.

Gaspard was featured prominently in Ryan Lizza's recent New Yorker piece detailing how Obama won. Of his job interview with the Illinois Senator, Gaspard recalled Obama saying: "I think that I'm a better speechwriter than my speechwriters. I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I'll tell you right now that I'm gonna think I'm a better political director than my political director."

"You are seeing today an all out attempt to marshal the forces of the opposition, using not merely the communists, or their fellow travelers-the deluded liberals, the eggheads, and some of my good friends in both the Democratic and Republican Parties who can become heros over night in the eyes of the left-wing press if they will just join with the jackal pack"

Thank you for your report. Send letters to local news media to ask them about coverage of the protesters.

Bless you! Fantastic pictures!!!!!

Way to go Raleigh and Bristol today.

The thing is these are “regular” Americans who are FED UP and have been FORCED to take to the streets.

They represent hundreds of thousands if not millions of Americans who likewise see Obama care for what it is - deathcare, rationed care, bureaucrat run “care”, disaster in the making.

The news media are missing out on a huge story which is the ordinary Americans coming out to the streets!

Notice how the pro-health care people were given a glowing report about their reasons for being there. The anti-deathcare was reported as an afterthought. Nothing about their reason for being there except to “protest”.
