"Dear Birthers: Stop! Sincerely, Serious Conservatives."
I've held fire for the last several months as I've watched the so-called "Birther" movement gain steam. At first it was amusing, like playing a drinking game you know, like taking a shot every time Chris Matthews explains why he insists on pronouncing the former Vice President's name "CHEE-knee."
It's not amusing anymore....
But that "Birther" thing ...
Seriously. Is this anything but a gift to the Democrats? ...
National Review Founder William F. Buckley, Jr., Arizona Sen. Barry Goldwater, conservative historian and philosopher Russell Kirk, and American Enterprise Institute President William Baroody took it upon themselves secretly to meet at The Breakers hotel in Palm Beach, where they decided Welch and the Birchers would have to be excommunicated from the Conservative Movement, lest their lunacy taint reasonable and responsible conservative political activity.
Were Buckley alive today, is there any doubt he would have the same response to the "Birthers"?
I think not.

if conservatives get worried over little things like this, then they deserve to lose. Look at the stuff Democrats embarrassed, 9/11 Truthers, Iraq War for oil etc, but they still won

Your statement implies a disconnect between the actions of the Leftists in America for the past 8 years and their ascension to power, as though the ascension were DESPITE their actions.
I'd have to disagree.
They played their hand right from Gramsci and Alinsky and Lenin and froze their targets, attacked them from numerous angles until even their most ardent supporters had to concede failure on at least one front, and then won office when the GOP could mount no defense.
I don't think the BC issue will ever hold water. But we need to keep hammering away at WHY HE WILL NOT RELEASE HIS BC RECORDS and WHY HE WILL RELEASE HIS COLLEGE RECORDS and ANYTHING ELSE THAT REVEALS HIM TO BE THE OLD-SCHOOL, STALINIST AND COMMUNIST HE IS.

If there’s really a problem with this, it’s in the derogatory name that we’ve allowed them to give us, “birthers.”
We need a better name - something that reflects the fact that we are simply demanding open access to basic some records, like the birth certificate, college records, etc.
How about the “open access movement”? Admittedly, this is not the greatest. I’m sure FReepers can come up with something much beter.

As the libtards know all to well truth may not matter. The story is rapidly escalating into acceptance. Zero is an usurper, a fraud. This is what they are fighting. They are losing. Hence they are becoming more desperate. RINOs continue to play along because they need the Dems “to play against” I suppose and they apparently fear the consequences of dealing with the fallout of one party knowingly running a fraud and the other party letting them do it.

Please explain why this is embarrassing to the conservatives, and in particular anyone who has taken the oath required of military members. You know, that oath that goes:
"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."
If the person filling the role of the president is doing so fraudulently, per the Constitution, are you relieved of your obligation? Why would you want to question something that can be easily, and legally dismissed as opposed to a potential Constitutional crisis?

Reasonable and responsible conservatives, thus, are stuck. We are being lumped in with irresponsible and unreasonable conspiracy theorists.
And I believe the time has come for reasonable and responsible conservatives to deal with the "Birther" Problem.
An increasing number of reasonable and responsible Conservatives are dealing with the problem by demanding BO abide by the Constitution.

The Democratic Party showed no shame over the 9/11 conspiracy theories. The Democratic Party also showed no shame when they actually endorsed the fantasies of Michael Moore first by making a big deal about going in a group to see his movie and then by giving Moore a seat at the Democratic convention right next to a former President. Where was the outrage over grasping at conspiracy theories then? These weren’t the actions of individuals but by Democratic party leadership. What’s in a little birth certificate conspiracy? Once again, the GOP is held responsible for the actions of others while the Democrats aren’t even held responsible for their own actions.

Please don’t label me the derogatory term Birther. I passionately believe Odumbo is hiding some things related to the circumstances of his birth, college admissions, and selective service registration. But I will not accept the laber that the Left has given us as “Birther.”
