In explaining why it was OK to sock a new 5.4 percent tax on the highest earners in this country to pay for health care reform President Obama's press secretary. Robert Gibbs, said this:
"The President believes that the richest 1 percent of this country has had a pretty good run of it for many, many, many years."
Ah. So that's it. The old "You've had it good enough for long enough" policy. That's why a family earning a million dollars a year should now cough up $54,000 of that in addition to all the other taxes it pays to cover health care for people who may not pay a penny of new tax themselves.
Because, after all, those rich folks have had a pretty good run of it.
Now, it is not that I don't think we need health care reform. We do. It is not that the rich should not pay fair taxes. They should.
But to justify a grossly overweighted tax by saying "You people have had it good long enough" is to engage in the worst and most destructive form of politics: class warfare.
By making a snarky comment like that, Gibbs suggests that the top 1 percent are a bunch of Bernie Madoffs, that they've been scheming their way to riches, evading the system, hiding their money in complicated off-shore deals. You know wink, wink they've had it "pretty good."
This is every bit as insulting as saying all poor people are lazy welfare cheats. Imagine the uproar if he'd said that. What's the difference?
Both are dangerous lies.

It’s all about wealth redistribution. Ask Joe the Plumber.
This is from Mitch Albom?
The VERY rich, those who didn’t and aren’t working to gain their wealth, will probably continue to support collectivists, because they can protect their wealth from confiscation.
And there is another factor that a lot of people don’t see. These elitists desire a neo-feudalistic society with them as the nobles and us as the peasants. It’s a matter of having a bigger DIFFERENCE in lifestyle between them and us. They can’t make their lifestyle any better, but they are really bothered by the fact that the average person can have a lifestyle that is nearly as good as theirs.
And the rich will continue to “have it good”. They’ll find ways. They didn’t get rich by being stupid.
Yeah; even though he’s a big lib, he’s a rich big lib.
Every policy of “liberalism” is refuted by biblical truth:
2 Corinthians 9:7
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
The dems have long been trying to get more than 50% of the population off of the tax roles, in order to make sure that the people who don't pay taxes are in the majority of voters, so that they can vote themselves "other peoples' stuff."
Only when the wealthy dems realize that their net income is determined by people who want what they have, and have learned that rather than working to improve their station in life, that they can vote themselves raises, will they begin to think, "maybe this wasn't such a good deal." And by that time, it will be too late. It's getting close to that time now.

It's only $54,000 at the bottom end. Earn $2 mil and it's $108K. Doesn't affect me directly (alas) but if all the people it does affect flee to the Cayman Islands, I will be affected.

You are right, of course, and this is the BIGGEST motivation for the leaders of the left, to exalt themselves. That's why they went into politics. It was the only way they could be ‘special’. That's why you rarely see people who are extremely accomplished in some other walk of life run for office (except of course for those with huge egos, like Bloomberg). They don't need to do this to assuage their ego. Politicians, as a class, are highly narcissistic, marginally talented people who are both insecure and arrogant. They are not altruistic, by any means.
They are the self-serving, give you the shirt off of someone elses back ‘do gooders’ of society who need others to need them to boost their stature. They are an incredibly selfish crowd. In my view they are at least as dangerous as the Madoff’s of the world, maybe more. For most of the Madoff types the bottom line is the bottom line. For the political class what's important is dictated by their deity complexes.
For someone like Obama it is not personal money that drives him, it is the grandiose vision of himself in which he plays Robin Hood and takes from those bad successful people and gives to ‘people of color’ and other false demographics that are part of his world view. The way to fight these people, in part, is to call them out for their selfishness and to continuously point out that in their selfish quest to be of ‘historical importance’ they are hurting lots of innocent and good people, like the elderly who worked hard, led honest lives, and will be denied access to expensive health care options because public policy doesn't see value in it.
“2 Corinthians 9:7
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Yet the left is happy to call Christ the ultimate socialist.
I don’t understand how all of this stands up
under “equal protection under the law”.
Again, I reiterate: The Bible refutes all “liberal” ideology.
And, when you confront a “liberal Christian” with verses that refute their worldly (ie, of Satanic origin) ideology,
they’ll deny the authority of the Bible before they’ll give up their “liberalism”.
Fairness is not for you and me, but rather they and them.
The title is wrong. It should read
Obama Unfair to the Productive
Most people who earn more than a $1 million a year produce more goods or services than the rest of us. A high income does not make them rich unless (1) they are able to continue producing at a high level and (2) they are allowed to keep what they earn.
Mitch is a libtard idiot. He is a non thinker that muddies up a pretty good talk radio station here in Detroit with 2 hours of his non thinking gobbly gook. He is fully supportive of the class warfare junkies, now that he is reaping the results of class warfare, his non thinking mush brain is confused.
The only way to win the class war, is to bring the rich down. Envy will never build the poor up. That is why it is a deadly sin.
He is a complete dolt.
