Sarah Palin has signed a joint resolution which essentially declares to the Federal government that Alaska is a sovereign and independent state under the 10th Amendment.
Just weeks before she plans to step down from her position as Alaska governor, Palin signed House Joint Resolution 27, sponsored by state Rep. Mike Kelly on July 10, according to a Tenth Amendment Center report. The resolution claims sovereignty for the state under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States.
Alaskas House passed HJR 27 by a vote of 37-0, and the Senate passed it by a vote of 40-0.

Help with interpretation on your constitution please, does this mean that Alaska dissolves any powers given to National Government?

If every state did this, some sanity might return to government of this country. If every state had done this back in 1932, we wouldn’t have had a 12 year Depression then and a potential Depression today.

Is this just regarding Education and commerce, or Security issues too?

Mark this.
I think Sarah Palin is planning to make state sovereignty a key theme in her forthcoming position statements.
If she can get the DemocRAT party to deny or come out against the 10th Amendment, this thing could blow sky high.

Governor Palin and the Alaska State Legislature have just demanded in a lawful manner that the Federal Government respect the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution.
The Feds won't of course.
What's important is the next step the Alaska Legislature takes.

Thanks Lurker.
We are attempting to contact Sarah Palin right now (it's 2 am here), for the ongoing matters we're fighting here in Europe.
Without asking for your personal info, are you an Alaska resident, or do you know anyone who is?
Thanks in advance.

I am not a resident of Alaska, nor do I know anyone who is. There is a Free Republic Alaska ping list. I’d recommend you post to that.

This is regarding virtually every intrusion of the Federal government into State's Rights. Read Paul Jacobs column in today's edition of Townhall.com. Somehow FDR, with the help of a compliant Supreme Court, eviscerated the 10th Amendment protections State governments and, ultimately, the people had from the Federal Government imposing unconstitutional mandated policies. There are relatively few “enumerated” (and, therefore, legal) powers allowed the Feds, the remainder they have usurped.
